Sara Bareilles Says Fiancé Joe Tippett Forgot the Ring When He Proposed

Sara Bareilles revealed on the Tuesday, March 12, episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers that her fiancé, Joe Tippett, forgot something important when he proposed.

In a spontaneous moment, Tippett forgot the ring when he asked Bareilles to marry him. Despite this minor detail, Bareilles happily said yes to his proposal. Tippett quickly retrieved the ring from their hotel room and returned to officially seal the deal.

Bareilles and Tippett shared their engagement news on social media in January 2023.

In an Instagram post, Bareilles expressed her excitement about marrying Tippett. She shared, “Yes to marrying this man. It’s an easy, earned, relaxed YES. @joetipps you are exactly who I want.” She also mentioned how Tippett has helped her discover and embrace new aspects of herself that she was previously hesitant to love.

She continued, "And now I love myself more because of you. So really this is all about me. Just kidding. What a gift you are. Let the games begin. Onward into absolutely everything with you. ❤️."

Bareilles also teased her upcoming vows with Tippett, sharing on Instagram Story the same day, "New Year's resolution: Marry this man."

The pair first crossed paths during the out-of-town tryout of Waitress in Massachusetts back in August 2015. Sara Bareilles composed the music for the popular Broadway show, while Joe Tippett took on the role of Earl alongside Jessie Mueller's Jenna.

When asked about Waitress, Bareilles shared her admiration for the musical, describing it as comfort food for the soul. She mentioned the abundance of heart and humor in the production, emphasizing its beauty. Despite her personal involvement, she expressed her belief in the show's message of resilience, strength, vulnerability, and other powerful themes.

Bareilles and Tippett first appeared together on the red carpet at the 2017 Tony Awards. Since then, they have openly expressed their affection for each other.

In a heartfelt Instagram post in December 2022, Tippett wrote a birthday tribute to Bareilles. He described her as the sunshine in his eyes, the star in his solar system, and his lighthouse in a storm. He expressed gratitude for her kindness, wisdom, and courage, and declared his love for her as his one, his love, his life, and his favorite person. Tippett ended the post by thanking the universe for bringing them together.
