Sara Bareilles and Joe Tippett are in a beautiful love story, and they are excited to get married. They shared the news of their engagement on New Year's Day 2023. Joe proposed during a trip to Mexico City, but there was a small hiccup - he forgot the ring in their hotel room.

"We were on a rooftop at sunset, the sky ablaze with colors while we swayed to music and danced slowly," Tippett shared with People in June 2023. "In that moment, I knew it was the perfect time to ask her. And she said yes! But then I realized I had forgotten the ring and had to rush down to get it. After returning, I got down on one knee, we sealed the deal, and it was a beautiful moment."

Despite his search for the ideal ring being unsuccessful, Tippett ended up buying a "cheap little ring" from a local market during their trip because he couldn't wait any longer. He later upgraded Bareilles' engagement ring to an antique gold piece, adding even more sparkle to their special moment.

Tippett and Bareilles first crossed paths at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Tippett auditioned for the musical adaptation of Adrienne Shelly's film Waitress, where Bareilles was working as the composer and lyricist.

Tippett successfully landed the role of Earl, the husband of the main character Jenna, in the show before it made its official move to Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Bareilles later joined the New York City production to take on the role of Jenna.

April 2017

Bareilles and Tippett attended several events together throughout the spring and summer, including the 2017 Tony Awards in June, solidifying their relationship.

In a heartfelt caption accompanying a photo of her partner, she mentioned how he stood by her, watching the waves and providing support when she felt overwhelmed. She emphasized the importance of having someone to navigate life's uncertainties with, stating that stability lies in the companionship of a loved one. She concluded by declaring her deep affection for her partner, highlighting that their relationship is the most precious aspect of her life.

March 2024

Sara Bareilles and Joe Tippett shared the news of their engagement on Instagram. The "Love Song" singer expressed her excitement by writing, "Yes to marrying this man." She described the decision as "an easy, earned, relaxed YES."

Bareilles mentioned that they were hoping to get married this year, but their plans might be delayed due to his busy shooting schedule. She expressed to People, "It might be too difficult to arrange everything this year, so we might have to postpone it to next year."

Just a month before, Bareilles shared a heartfelt message about their strong bond in a Valentine's Day post on Instagram.

"I never realized that loving someone could make me feel even more like myself.
