Sandro Tonali's Shocking Football Ban: A Scandal That Will Leave You Speechless

Newcastle midfielder, Sandro Tonali, faces potential football ban after admitting to placing bets on AC Milan matches He is among several players implicated in an Italian football betting investigation The revelations have left Newcastle shocked and surprised

Sandro Tonali is likely to receive a significant football ban after confessing to placing bets on AC Milan matches during his time as a player at the Italian club, as reported by Sky in Italy.

During a hearing held at the Italian Federation in Turin on Tuesday, the Newcastle midfielder acknowledged his involvement in betting on Milan's victories.

Newcastle is reportedly taken aback by the recent revelations regarding Tonali, but at the moment, they have chosen to remain silent. The 23-year-old player was implicated in an Italian football gambling investigation last week, which led to his exclusion from the senior men's squad during last night's loss to England.

At his Tuesday hearing, it was revealed that he had confessed to placing bets on Milan's matches, whether he was playing or not. This type of behavior can lead to players being banned from international football for a maximum of three years, as stated by FIFA Code 26.

Tonali is likely to face a lesser, but still lengthy ban for his help with the investigation - and for admitting his guilt.

Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has received a seven-month suspension from the Italian Football Federation due to a violation of betting regulations. On Tuesday, Fagioli, who is the first player implicated in the investigation, was given a ban for wagering on football matches. He voluntarily reported his actions, unlike Tonali.

Fagioli was given a 12,500 euro (£10,848) fine and had five months of his one-year ban suspended by the FIGC. Additionally, he agreed to undergo a minimum of six months of therapy to address his gambling issue. The governing body stated that the 22-year-old had breached the regulation that forbids betting on football events organized by the FIGC, UEFA, and FIFA.

Tonali, who was signed by Newcastle for £55m from Milan in the summer, is set to return to Newcastle on Wednesday.

The player's agent acknowledged on Tuesday that Tonali has a gambling issue, stating that he is now confronted with the most significant challenge of his career.

Newcastle face Crystal Palace at home on Saturday.
