Sandro Tonali: Shocking Revelation Puts Newcastle Midfielder's Future in Jeopardy!

Newcastle midfielder, Sandro Tonali, admits to betting on AC Milan games, raising concerns amid an ongoing Italian football betting probe The revelations have left Newcastle shocked and surprised Juventus' Nicolo Fagioli already received a seven-month ban for a similar breach

Sandro Tonali is potentially facing an extensive football ban as he has confessed to placing bets on AC Milan matches during his time as a player at the Italian club, as reported by Sky in Italy. The Newcastle midfielder made this admission during a hearing at the Italian Federation in Turin on Tuesday.

Newcastle United is currently expressing their shock and surprise over the recent revelations. However, they have decided not to provide any comments at this time. Last week, Sandro Tonali, a 23-year-old professional football player, was implicated in an ongoing Italian football betting investigation. As a consequence, he was excluded from the senior men's squad and did not partake in last night's match against England.

According to FIFA Code 26, players who engage in betting on matches, whether they participate or not, with the aim of ensuring a win for Milan, can potentially be banned from international football for a period of up to three years.

Tonali is likely to face a lesser, but still lengthy ban for his help with the investigation - and for admitting his guilt.

Italian Football Federation has suspended Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli for seven months due to his violation of betting regulations. Fagioli, who is the first player to be implicated in the investigation, received the ban on Tuesday for a comparable transgression.

Fagioli received a 12,500 euros (£10,848) fine and had five months of his one-year ban suspended by the FIGC. The 22-year-old also agreed to undergo at least six months of therapy to address his gambling problem, according to the governing body. A statement on the FIGC website stated that Fagioli had violated the rule prohibiting betting on football events organized by FIGC, UEFA, and FIFA.

Tonali, who joined Newcastle from Milan for a substantial fee of £55m during the summer, is slated to return to Newcastle on Wednesday.

Tonali's agent acknowledged on Tuesday that the player grapples with a gambling issue, emphasizing that he now confronts the most significant hurdle of his professional journey.

Newcastle face Crystal Palace at home on Saturday.
