Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are good sports about losing money from Wrexham Football Club — at least they’re trying to be.
"Jokingly addressing our financial losses, McElhenney, 46, mentioned during the premiere of Welcome to Wrexham on Tuesday, October 31. Reynolds, 47, echoed the sentiment of his fellow co-chairman.
Initially, Humphrey Ker, the executive director of Wrexham AFC, refrained from disclosing a precise amount and simply stated it was a significant sum of money."
"Provide us with the quantified loads," replied Reynolds. Shaun Harvey, the Wrexham Advisor to the Board, estimated that it exceeded £10 million (equivalent to over $12 million).
"Upon hearing the actual amount, I feel nauseous," Reynolds sarcastically remarked.

According to Harvey, if the duo were to sell Wrexham AFC currently, they would receive a sum exceeding £10 million. "That's the actual realistic figure," he asserted. McElhenney then responded, "Let's assume we're committed to this project indefinitely. When can I expect payment?"
Harvey expressed that Wrexham's ascent to a higher league would provide an opportunity for financial gain. (Spoiler alert — In April, Wrexham AFC achieved promotion to the English Football League after a 15-year hiatus.)
"The revenue generated by our global appeal will counterbalance the extra costs we have incurred," Harvey added. "The major transformation upon promotion will be the recognition of the worth of Welcome to Wrexham. It will showcase the value of the brand we are cultivating, leading to increased sponsorship revenue."
In another part of the episode, fans eagerly witnessed Wrexham facing off against their main competitor, Notts County.
Following an intense match filled with thrilling moments, as described by Reynolds, Wrexham emerged victorious with a score of 3-2 against Notts County.
After saving the team's victory by stopping a penalty kick, McElhenney proudly declared to the camera, "The big man has earned his pay." Reynolds chimed in, affirming, "We are the top team in the league." Furthermore, they both playfully agreed to give a congratulatory kiss on the mouth to Ben Foster.
The Wrexham cochairmen expressed that witnessing the win was the most significant moment they had ever experienced, excluding their families, as Reynolds joked. Reynolds and McElhenney also received the esteemed Freedom of the Borough Award from the Wrexham council. Accepting the award, the renowned star of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia remarked that it was a tremendous privilege.
"Football has an incredible power to unite people, bridging connections between individuals from different corners of the globe," he expressed. "Being embraced by this community is a genuine honor and blessing for me." Catch the latest episodes of Welcome to Wrexham every Tuesday on FX.
