Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart hilariously reunite in a mini-sequel for Aviation Gin, cleverly referencing their iconic 2005 film, Just Friends This witty ad showcases their undeniable chemistry, providing a delightful throwback for fans and an enticing treat for gin enthusiasts

Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart remain platonic companions.

Reprising their iconic characters from the holiday film "Just Friends," Reynolds, 47, and Smart, 47, celebrated the 18th anniversary by endorsing Aviation American Gin. The recently released "Just Friendsgiving" advertisement, launched on November 20, showcases Reynolds, alongside his ownership of the brand, inquiring about Smart's day while admiring the festive Christmas decorations.

Smart, clutching a bottle of liquor, laments, "I've had more pleasant days... The bar has unfortunately run dry of Aviation American Gin."

In response, Reynolds, with a serene grin, simply remarks, "Oh dear, that's truly unfortunate. That's really terrible."

Smart then interrupts the director, instructing him to halt the scene, which unveils the fact that both individuals are positioned in front of a green screen. Expressing her feelings, she remarks, "This situation feels rather peculiar."

Reassuring her, Reynolds guarantees, "Once we reach the post-production stage, it will become our sanctuary. I assure you, it will appear flawless." He further suggests, "I believe we should give it another attempt."

Smart restarts the scene and reiterates to Reynolds that the bar has run out of his gin. In a humorous twist, Reynolds spontaneously modifies his line to "f—k," prompting Smart to once again call for a cut. "Your response was quite remarkable," she remarks.

Reynolds responds, "After 18 years, I believe the characters have evolved, so let's give it another shot." Smart reluctantly agrees, saying, "I suppose."

They make another attempt at the scene, but Smart soon realizes that it's merely a commercial for Reynolds' gin and not the independent sequel she had hoped for. Disappointed, she exits the set. Reynolds calls out to her, exclaiming, "Never work with your idol!" Smart retorts, "You're not my damn idol."

The duo later reunites to extend Thanksgiving greetings to their fans, affectionately blowing kisses to each other.

The commercial marks their reunion after nearly twenty years since they starred together in the 2005 film. In the movie, Reynolds' character Chris endeavors to transition from being Smart's character Jamie's friend to something more, as he had had a longtime crush on her.

Smart expressed her enthusiasm for creating a sequel to the successful movie, stating, "I would absolutely be interested in a follow-up. I have high hopes for it in the future."

Reynolds has not made any comments about returning to continue the story, but he did mention the movie in a fun TikTok video in June 2021. In the video, he enthusiastically danced and lip-synced to the song "I Swear" by All-4-One. This was a nod to his character in Just Friends, who also jammed out to the same track in his bedroom.
