Rick and Morty post-credits scene sets up potential new villain
In the post-credits scene of Rick and Morty Season 7 Episode 6, a potential new villain is introduced in the form of an immortal churro. Allow us to elaborate...
At the beginning of 'Rickfending Your Mort', Morty, under the assumption that Rick is drowning his sorrows after the events of the previous episode, persuades a drunken Rick to redeem one of his "Morty gets to choose the adventure" punch cards.
Rick cannot recall having stamped all of them, so Morty refers to his notes and recollects all the adventures they have had. However, Rick remains unyielding and employs his portal gun to send the "Observer" back to their garage.

The Observer, a colossal gemstone, possesses the extraordinary ability to perceive and remember all occurrences in the multiverse. Consequently, it can recreate Morty's notes exactly as they unfolded, verifying the authenticity of their adventures.
However, due to Rick and Morty inadvertently causing the death of the Observer, they find themselves on trial before the planet of the being. During the trial, an Observer lawyer endeavors to demonstrate that the duo lacks moral character.
After showcasing a collection of video clips that depict Rick and Morty in a less favorable manner, Morty counters, "Listen, I agree we may be unconventional, but we are nowhere near malevolent. In fact, we tend to form more friendships than adversaries."
"Let's review the evidence," the lawyer interjects. The next scene presents a flashback in which Morty implores Rick to animate his churro. Without hesitation, Rick zaps the treat, and to everyone's amazement, the churro sprouts a face and limbs, cheerfully introducing itself as "Churri."
Morty takes his new companion on an exciting journey, presented in the style of Wes Anderson. After their adventure, Morty requests Rick to transform his friend back into a normal churro. However, Rick reveals that this is not possible, explaining that he had to make the friend functionally immortal in order for him to live.
Rather than including Churri in the Smith family, Rick and Morty bring him to a desolate planet where he can reside with what appears to be a family of churros. As they depart, Churri realizes that his new companions are actually just ordinary churros.
“Mark my words, Morty, I shall leave you as you left me: on a barren planet, praying for death,” Churri screams.

The scene then returns to the trial, but that won't be the final encounter with the enraged snack. In the post-credits scene of the episode, Morty discovers what seems to be a churro when he opens his school locker. Startled, he retreats and exclaims, "I anticipated this moment."
However, the churro slips from his grasp and falls to the floor, where a fellow classmate retrieves it and begins devouring it. Morty, feeling relieved, returns to his locker, only to discover the word "soon" spelled out in sugar.
Will Churri seek revenge on Rick and Morty after they left him behind? Only time will tell.

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I have mixed feelings about the introduction of a new potential antagonist in Rick and Morty. On the one hand, I am excited about the prospect of a new villain who could pose a significant threat to Rick and Morty. The show has a history of introducing memorable and complex villains, such as Rick Prime and Evil Morty, and I am eager to see what the writers have in store for us with this new character.
On the other hand, I am concerned that the introduction of a new villain could take away from the focus on the main characters and their relationships. Rick and Morty is at its best when it explores the complex dynamics between Rick, Morty, and the rest of the Smith family. I hope that the writers will be able to balance the introduction of this new villain with the show's core focus on character development.
Overall, I am cautiously optimistic about the introduction of a new antagonist in Rick and Morty. I am excited to see what the writers have in store for this character, but I hope that they will be able to maintain the show's focus on character development and not let the new villain overshadow the main characters.
