Maria Garcia from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is opening up about her difficult relationship with her mother, Linda. Their strained dynamic reached a breaking point during Angie Katsanevas' Greek Easter lunch on the recent episode of the Bravo show. Monica, 40, shared exclusively with We that she and her mother are currently not in a good place.
The RHOSLC newcomer expressed that she cried uncontrollably when she watched their argument again. The disagreement started when Linda interrupted a conversation between Monica and Angie, who is 49 years old.
Monica shared with Us that even though she was part of the situation, it felt like one of the most emotionally intense moments she had ever witnessed on Housewives. The authenticity and vulnerability of the argument were striking. That particular day carried a heavy emotional weight for everyone involved.
Monica expressed her disappointment in Linda for getting involved in the drama, rather than supporting her, especially since it was the first time her mother was meeting her Bravo costars. She felt betrayed and believed that Linda prioritized having fun, dancing, and talking to men over addressing the situation at hand. This made Monica even more emotional, to the point where she admitted in a confessional that sometimes she wished she had a different mother. Monica acknowledged that her relationship with Linda has always been turbulent, and she often yearned for a mother who would unconditionally support and trust her. At the same time, Monica understood that Linda likely had her own moments where she wished for a different kind of daughter.
Gizelle Hernandez/BravoAccording to Monica, her connection with her mother is more akin to that of siblings. "The issue in our relationship is that it lacks the mother-daughter dynamic," she expressed. "It's more like a sisterly bond."
The Bravolebrity revealed that she and Linda have not talked about the incident since filming. Fans can expect to witness their relationship continue to deteriorate throughout the season. Monica hinted that the Eater party will have a significant impact, but viewers will have to wait and see how it unfolds. When asked if she wants to reconcile with her mother, Monica firmly stated, "Not right now, no."
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
