Resident Evil 3: A Heart-Pounding Souls-Like Experience!

Resident Evil 3, both the original and the remake, are known for their focus on action. However, a recent fan video depicts what the game would be like if it were more akin to a Capcom version of Dark Souls or Bloodborne. The horror game genre has seen a resurgence in 2023, especially with the abundance of remakes. While many of these titles revisit classics, rather than offer something entirely new, the genre is still thriving.

Despite being one of the shortest games in the series, Resident Evil 3 remains a beloved entry in one of the most influential survival horror franchises to date. The 1999 original retained the core elements of its successful predecessors but introduced Nemesis and a slightly more action-oriented approach, paving the way for future installments. The video depicts Jill Valentine opening a large iron gate before entering a foreboding courtyard, where she is met by the infamous Nemesis. The ensuing battle resembles something straight out of a FromSoftware title, complete with a red enemy health bar and dramatic orchestral music. It's worth noting that this is simply a conceptual video and does not represent any official or fan-made project in development. Rustic Games BR has previously created similar videos, including a PS1-style demake of Dead Space and a concept for RE4 as a Souls-like game.

RE3 may not be widely regarded as the top Resident Evil game, but it remains a significant chapter in the franchise's story. Despite its brevity, the game manages to capture the essence of the survival horror genre, cementing its place as a beloved addition to the nostalgic era of the 90s. Fans can now experience the remake of Resident Evil 3 on various platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
