Redfall's latest update, 11, addresses numerous issues and enhances the game's performance, stability, and multiplayer experience The update also includes improvements to gameplay, combat, AI/NPC, environment, accessibility, and user interface However, the update comes with a large installation size

The latest update for Redfall, version 1.1, is now available and aims to address multiple issues within the game. However, players should be aware that downloading the update requires a significant 32 GB of available space on their hard drives. Despite being one of the biggest disappointments of 2023, fans of Arkane Studios' previous titles, such as the Dishonored franchise and Prey, were hopeful that Redfall would deliver on its promises. Unfortunately, the game's initial release was plagued with bugs, poor AI, and lackluster graphics, resulting in one of the lowest user ratings on Steam. With the release of this latest update, however, there may be hope for Redfall yet.

Redfall's latest update, version 1.1, has just been released, promising significant improvements to the game. This patch is the first of many that will address the most common complaints from players, including issues with AI responsiveness, infrequent enemy encounters, and graphics quality. Among the changes are combat tweaks, better enemy pathfinding, improved animation and navigation, texture refinements, enhanced game performance, and overall menu navigation improvements.

Redfall Unleashes Massive Update

Redfall's current state has left players dissatisfied, as evidenced by the fact that more people are currently playing the older, previously unpopular game Forspoken on Steam. With the release of the new patch, it is hoped that Redfall's gameplay experience will improve. While Arkane is working on updates for Redfall, they are also in the process of developing a new, unnamed title that is expected to return to the immersive sim style that the studio is known for.

Redfall Update 1.1 Notes

Gameplay

Breakable glass now shatters upon first impact from any weapon, adding to the realism of the game and allowing for more strategic gameplay.

Combat

Fixed various combat issues, including unresponsive enemies and improved melee attacks for Vampires. Cultists and Bellwethers also received overall improvements in their combat behaviors, with faster reaction times. Additionally, The Rook has become more relentless and will now relentlessly pursue all living party members, making for a more intense and thrilling gameplay experience. Furthermore, players no longer have to worry about being struck by lightning bolts through rooftops or other unexpected scenarios, as the Storm ability has been adjusted accordingly.

AI/NPC

General enhancements have been made to the navigation of human enemies. This includes improvements to animation timing and responsiveness. Dormant Vampires are now more sensitive to noise generated by players and are likely to wake up. During combat, enemies are drawn towards the most significant threat, which could be a player, Bribón, or members of an opposing enemy faction. Pathing options for enemies have been improved in open world areas in both districts. Additionally, mouth blood has been added to more facial variations of Vampires.

Environment

Players can expect to encounter a greater variety of enemies while exploring the vast open world of the game. Additionally, enemies are no longer able to shoot through certain walls in the Fire Station, and the Vampire Nest exit door has been fixed in the Shipyard heart instance. Numerous visual issues, such as materials and model adjustments, have been improved at a distance, and mission briefing sequences have been brightened. The lighting and audio processing in many interior spaces in both districts have also been enhanced, and skybox updates have been made to prevent extreme star flickering. Other general improvements include collision detection and asset placement throughout both districts.

Performance and Stability

Fixed an issue where certain decal streaming textures appeared blurry due to incomplete loading. Additionally, we have addressed several instances where players experienced infinite loading screens and have improved the framerate performance in Bloody Tom and Miss Whisper's psychic spaces and boss arenas. Players can now proceed past the Accessibility Menu on a new, unlinked bethesda.net account, and we have optimized the lighting performance in psychic spaces. Furthermore, we have resolved the excessive flickering of blood pool reflections and optimized various VFX particle counts, emitters, and spawn rates for several effects. Lastly, we have improved the stability of the game and optimized memory usage when using Jacob's Raven ability, so players can have a more enjoyable experience.

Multiplayer

Increased the chances of players encountering enemies with special traits in multiplayer sessions General improvements to stability and functionality in Multiplayer Lobbies
