West Ham have made a significant addition to their squad by securing the services of Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez for a fee of £35.4m.
This noteworthy signing marks the first acquisition for the Hammers in the summer transfer window, coinciding with the departure of their captain Declan Rice, who was sold to Arsenal for a staggering amount of £105m.
Ajax have officially announced the details of the deal, which includes an initial payment of £32.8m and additional £2.6m based on performance. Additionally, Alvarez has been assigned the No 19 jersey for his time at the London Stadium. West Ham will commence their Premier League campaign by facing off against Bournemouth on Saturday, with the match set to commence at 3pm.
