Reacher Season 2 Brings a Hilarious Terminator Surprise

Reacher Season 2 kicks off with a hilarious nod to Robert Patrick's iconic role in Terminator Alan Ritchson shares Reacher-style advice, building anticipation for the upcoming premiere

In the opening episode of Reacher Season 2, there is an enjoyable reference to Robert Patrick's role in the Terminator franchise. Patrick famously played the villainous T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a role that solidified his status as an iconic big screen baddie.

Patrick has had various high-profile movie roles, such as in Cop Land, Die Hard 2, Walk the Line, Spy Kids, and Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle. He has also made non-canon cameos as the T-1000 in Wayne’s World and Last Action Hero. On the small screen, he has played The X-Files’ John Doggett and had recurring roles in shows like 1923 and Mayans M.C. Hailing from Marietta, Georgia, Patrick has made a name for himself in both film and television.

Reacher Season 2 has a comical Terminator Easter egg

That said, Patrick is still best known for his contribution to the Terminator franchise. This is something Reacher Season 2, Episode 1, “ATM,” has fun with.

In a scene in the middle of "ATM," Shane Langston's (played by Patrick) henchman lists off the fake names used by Reacher (played by Alan Ritchson) and Neagley (played by Maria Sten). Interestingly, Langston doesn't realize that Neagley's alias, Sarah Connor, is a reference to the Terminator. In the sci-fi series, Sarah Connor is the mother of humanity's future savior, John Connor, and is portrayed by Linda Hamilton in the films The Terminator (1984), Terminator 2 (1992), and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019).

Alan Ritchson offers fans Reacher-style advice ahead of Season 2’s premiere

Sarah Connor has also been portrayed by other actors – two of whom are Game of Thrones veterans. Lena Headey took on the role in the 2009 TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, while Emilia Clarke assumed the character in 2015's Terminator Genisys.

The Terminator Easter egg in Reacher Season 2 was just one of the many surprises awaiting fans in Episode 1. Additionally, viewers in various regions, including the US, were able to watch the episode early after Prime Video pushed forward the premiere of Season 2.

This turned out to be a fortunate move, as Alan Ritchson, who portrays Jack Reacher, humorously advised fans to clear their schedules by getting fired before the premiere and using "scare tactics" to get their jobs back.

Reacher Season 2 Episodes 1-3 are now streaming on Prime Video, which you can sign up for here. Check out our other Reacher coverage below:

Editor's P/S

As a huge fan of both the Reacher series and the Terminator franchise, I was thrilled to see the hilarious nod to Robert Patrick's iconic role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day in the opening episode of Reacher Season 2. The scene where Shane Langston's henchman lists off the fake names used by Reacher and Neagley, with Neagley's alias being Sarah Connor, was a clever and unexpected reference that made me laugh out loud. It was a great way to pay homage to the Terminator series while also adding a touch of humor to the show.

Overall, I am incredibly excited about Reacher Season 2 and can't wait to see what else it has in store. The first episode was a great start, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds over the course of the season. I highly recommend the show to fans of action, suspense, and humor, and I encourage everyone to check it out on Prime Video.
