Sony has commenced the rollout of its latest PS5 update, offering more than just system stability enhancements. This update brings forth new accessibility features, such as the ability to utilize a second DualSense controller for assistance, additional audio options, and compatibility with larger-capacity 8TB M.2 SSDs.

After a successful trial in a recent beta version, users can now anticipate an expansion of PS Remote Play. Sony has announced that the game streaming application is now compatible with devices running Android TV OS 12, the 4K edition of Chromecast with Google TV, and the BRAVIA XR A95L TV model. Voice commands have also been enhanced, allowing users in the US and UK to activate help pages simply by saying "Hey PlayStation, help". Moreover, another voice command enables PS5 users to explore new functionalities on the console as well as the PlayStation Plus library.

The multiplayer functionality has received significant improvements, including the addition of several customization options. It is now easier to join your friends in an activity, as certain games will display a "Joinable icon" next to online friends who are playing a game that can be joined. This update also introduces a dedicated search bar for game libraries, saving you time by eliminating the need to scroll through a long list of titles to find the specific game you're looking for.

Most importantly, you now have the ability to mute the PS5 beep sound effect. You can adjust the volume or completely disable the console's beeping when you turn it on. Please find the complete list of updates below:

Improved Accessibility Features

Utilize a Secondary Controller for Assistance. Now, you have the ability to assign a second controller to an individual account as an assisting controller, enabling you to seamlessly operate your PS5 console with the functionality of two controllers, simulating the experience of using a single controller.

Experience a novel way to engage in collaborative gaming or support others in conquering difficult game levels with this remarkable feature.

To activate an assist controller, simply navigate to [Settings] > [Accessibility] > [Controllers] > [Use Second Controller for Assistance], and toggle on [Use Assist Controller].

You can use an assist controller when your main controller is a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller, or a PS5-supported third-party controller.

System UI Haptic Feedback

You can now activate haptic feedback effects when navigating your PS5 using your DualSense controller, DualSense Edge controller, or PS VR2 Sense controller.

Once enabled, certain system sound effects will be translated into physical sensations through haptics. For example, you'll feel the movement of focus, reaching the end of a scrollable section, checking a box, or receiving a notification or starting a game.

To enhance immersion and cater to players with sight or hearing disabilities, this optional feature provides valuable additional feedback on their inputs.

To enable this feature, navigate to [Settings] > [Accessibility] > [Controllers], and toggle on [Haptic Feedback During Console Navigation].

Compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices now have the support to enjoy 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech. This includes soundbars, TVs, and home theater systems.

To enable Dolby Atmos, navigate to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Audio Output] > [Audio Format (Priority)], and choose [Dolby Atmos].
