Princess Eugenie celebrated her 34th birthday on Saturday, March 23. She spent the special day surrounded by her loved ones, especially her two sons.

On Sunday, March 24, Eugenie shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. She expressed that the best gift for her birthday is her boys. She emphasized the importance of cherishing family and loved ones on this special occasion. She also posted a photo of herself holding one of her sons as a way to mark the moment.

Eugenie, the daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, has two children with her husband Jack Brooksbank - August, who is 3 years old, and Ernst, who is 9 months old.

Ferguson, who is 64 years old, also celebrated her youngest daughter's birthday. (The Duchess of York and Andrew also have another daughter, Princess Beatrice.)

Happy birthday to my amazing daughter @princesseugenie. I am so proud of the incredible woman you have grown up to be. You continue to amaze me every day in your hard work, your grace, kindness and the care you show to others. You will always be my silly, sweet, smart and thoughtful girl. I love you, Eugenie. Happy birthday.

Eugenie’s birthday came amid a trying time for the royal family as one day earlier, Princess Kate Middleton confirmed that she is battling an undisclosed form of cancer.

Kate, 42, shared in a video released by Kensington Palace on Friday, March 22 that she had undergone major abdominal surgery in London in January. Initially, it was believed that her condition was non-cancerous. However, post-surgery tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has now started.

She also mentioned that both she and [Prince] William have been handling the situation privately to protect their young family. The process of coming to terms with the diagnosis and managing it has taken time, especially after recovering from the major surgery.

Kate and the 41-year-old Prince of Wales, who is one of Eugenie’s older cousins, have three children together: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. They found out about the princess’ diagnosis in February and decided to tell the kids after their school break for Easter.

Since then, William and Kate have been getting support from other members of the royal family, including King Charles III, William's father. The 75-year-old monarch is also fighting cancer, a fact that was made public by Buckingham Palace in February without giving specific details.

It is a challenging time for the royals as Charles, Kate, and Ferguson are all fighting cancer at the same time. Ferguson discovered she had skin cancer in January, just after having a mastectomy for breast cancer.

Eugenie and Ferguson have not yet spoken publicly about Kate's cancer diagnosis.
