Initially, it was believed that her condition was non-cancerous. However, post-surgery tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has now started.

She also mentioned that both she and [Prince] William have been handling the situation privately to protect their young family. The process of coming to terms with the diagnosis and managing it has taken time, especially after recovering from the major surgery.

Kate and the 41-year-old Prince of Wales, who is one of Eugenie’s older cousins, have three children together: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. They found out about the princess’ diagnosis in February and decided to tell the kids after their school break for Easter.

Since then, William and Kate have been getting support from other members of the royal family, including King Charles III, William's father. The 75-year-old monarch is also fighting cancer, a fact that was made public by Buckingham Palace in February without giving specific details.
