Princess Eugenie revealed on the "Table Manners" podcast that society's fixation on post-baby weight drives her "crazy," particularly after the birth of her second child earlier this year. "Losing baby weight is a real struggle for me," confessed the 33-year-old royal. "There's this pressure from society to shed the baby weight and all that jazz."
Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have two sons together. Their first, August, was born in February 2021, and their second, Ernest, arrived this past May. Eugenie revealed months after giving birth that she follows a gluten and dairy-free diet. She explained that this lifestyle is not only to help her with post-baby weight, but also to support her husband, who suffers from severe migraines and follows the same diet on the recommendation of a gut specialist. "I'm doing it with him," she said.
Even though she is part of the royal family, Eugenie remarked that she was able to lead a relatively ordinary life while studying at university. (Eugenie's father is Prince Andrew, the second eldest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.)
Princess Eugenie revealed on her Instagram that her royal title has caused her some personal challenges, particularly when it comes to her appearance, despite not being an active member of the royal family.
"Everyone goes through it if you're in the public eye," she remembered. "For me, it was during that awkward stage at 13 years old with a dorky bowl haircut and some extra weight, and dealing with bullying from boys and all that."
Eugenie also mentioned that the public scrutiny "has definitely caused some issues with the pressure to look a certain way." However, splitting her time between the U.K. and Portugal allows for a different level of privacy.
"I love how in Lisbon I can go to the supermarket in my workout clothes with my hair thrown up and nobody bats an eye," she said. "It's so freeing."
Though Eugenie wishes she could live half the year in Portugal indefinitely, she intends to have her sons attend school in London.
Eugenie and her family split time between the two countries due to her husband’s job working in marketing, sales and promotion with the Discovery Land Company.

Eugenie and Brooksbank, 37, were in a relationship for seven years before he popped the question during a trip to Nicaragua in January 2018. They tied the knot in October of the same year. As a couple with two children, they have created a beautiful family. Eugenie even describes their sons as angels.
“I think I’ve got magic children that take after me and Jack,” she joked on Wednesday’s podcast. “They love sleeping.”
