Prince William made his first public statement on social media since Princess Kate Middleton revealed her cancer diagnosis. He expressed gratitude towards @Lionesses and @RachelDaly3 for their memorable performances. He ended the message with a "W" for William and mentioned looking forward to more goals for Villa.
William reached out to share the news about Rachel Daly, a well-known athlete from the England women's national soccer team, announcing her retirement from the sport.
On the other hand, there has been no word from the Prince of Wales regarding any updates on Kate's battle with cancer.
Kate's health became a concern when she had surgery on her abdomen in January and took time off to recover. She shared on Friday, March 22, that she is battling cancer.
Kate, 42, shared in a video message on social media that she underwent surgery, initially believed to be for a noncancerous condition. However, post-surgery tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended a preventive chemotherapy course, which she has now started.
The unexpected news of cancer was a significant shock for Kate. She and her husband, William, 41, have been working together to process and handle the situation privately, especially for the well-being of their young family.
"I'm doing well and improving daily by concentrating on activities that promote healing in my mind, body, and spirit," she shared. "Having William by my side brings me comfort and reassurance, along with the overwhelming love, support, and kindness from all of you. Your gestures mean the world to us."

Kate was originally planning to go back to work as a royal after Easter in late March. However, she revealed that her treatment would require her to take more time off from her duties.
“We appreciate your understanding that as a family, we require some time, space, and privacy while I undergo treatment,” she explained. “My work has always brought me immense joy, and I am eager to return once I am able. However, my priority now is to focus on making a full recovery.”
In response to Kate’s announcement, Kensington Palace released a statement indicating that she will resume official duties once cleared by her medical team. In the meantime, William will continue to support his wife and family while fulfilling his official obligations, as he has been doing since the beginning of the year.
William and Kate found out about her diagnosis in late February. Since then, the couple has been taking time to come to terms with the news. They decided to wait until their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were on Easter break from school before informing them about Kate's health battle, in order to handle it in private.
The day after Kate shared her diagnosis, both she and William expressed their appreciation for the overwhelming love and support they have received.
Kensington Palace shared that the prince and princess feel deeply touched by the kind messages they have received from people in the U.K., across the Commonwealth, and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message. They are grateful for the public’s warmth and support, and appreciate everyone's understanding of their request for privacy during this time.
