Prince William's second day in New York City was dedicated to visiting the Ten House fire station. Situated a mere two-minute stroll away from the former site of the World Trade Center, this fire station played a vital role in responding to the devastating 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. Tragically, several station members lost their lives during the incident, and the building itself suffered extensive damage. However, it has now been meticulously restored.

Upon arriving on Tuesday, September 19th, William, 41, received a warm welcome from firefighters and a thrilled crowd of onlookers who enthusiastically cheered as he entered the building. Interacting with first responders, he shook hands and engaged in conversations about their field experiences before embarking on a tour of the fire station. Later, William participated in a round table discussion on mental health, a cause that holds deep personal significance for him. Lt. Drew Kane, a member of the firehouse and a social worker, remarked, "His understanding of the topic was evident. His presence exuded firsthand experience."

William, previously an air ambulance helicopter pilot and an RAF Search and Rescue pilot, shared his military experiences in a 2021 episode of Apple Fitness+'s Time to Walk series. Reflecting on his time in the service, he expressed a profound sense of witnessing a world in turmoil. "It was as if the collective suffering of humanity had enveloped me," he recounted. "It's a deeply profound sensation. To see so many in pain, so many enduring hardships. And that's not who I am. I had never experienced anything like it before."

Prince William received rubber fire trucks, pens, notebooks, and T-shirts for his three young children, Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5), from members of the station before his departure on Tuesday. These gifts were given by members to the prince, who shares his children with his wife, Princess Kate.

William proceeded to acknowledge the fans positioned behind the metal barricades outside the station, cordially engaging in handshakes and conversations with the joyful crowd. In response to an inquiry about the possibility of him bringing his children to New York, William beamed and expressed, "One day, it would be delightful to do so."

Budihas expressed her gratitude for William's visit and mentioned that she had brought the shirts for his children. William thanked her and then passed the shirts to his chief of staff, according to Budihas in an interview with Hola! USA.

Thank You!

During his visit on Tuesday night, William expressed his gratitude and admiration for the first responders at FDNY 10 House. He acknowledged the immense bravery and heroism required in their line of work. William extended his heartfelt thanks not only to the members of the @FDNY, but also to their families, loved ones, and friends who provide unwavering support.
