Prince William's Frustration with Negative Portrayals Explored in New Book 'Endgame'

Prince William rises above the controversial release of Omid Scobie's book 'Endgame,' displaying resilience against the negative narratives

Prince William is choosing to take the high road after the release of Omid Scobie's latest book, Endgame. The book, which hit shelves on Tuesday, November 28, delves into the state of the British monarchy following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2020 exit, Queen Elizabeth II's death, and King Charles III's ascension to the throne. Despite not being surprised that the book's excerpts have made headlines, the 41-year-old prince has decided not to engage in the conversation.

“He knows that the more he speaks, the more it fuels the frenzy,” a source exclusively tells us.

William has no plans to directly confront Scobie’s revelations. “He sees [the book] as a malicious representation of the monarchy,” the insider adds, pointing out that William has no desire “to promote a series of fabricated and malicious stories” about his family.

According to the source, William is “exasperated and sick of dealing with” the drama.

Prince William no longer even recognizes his younger brother, according to Endgame's claims. This comes after Scobie coauthored the 2020 book Finding Freedom with Carolyn Durand, which focused on Harry and Meghan’s relationship and their eventual decision to step down from their senior royal duties.

The book claims that William feels that Harry and Meghan caught the family off guard with their departure, and he strongly believes that Harry has been manipulated by a team of therapists. Allegedly, William has complained to both friends and aides about Harry and Meghan's self-centered behavior since they moved to California. The relationship between Harry and William has greatly deteriorated after Harry publicly aired his grievances against the family and the institution in the 2021 CBS interview and his revealing memoir "Spare," according to Scobie.

Endgame delves into the strained relationship between the brothers as well as William's strong marriage to Princess Kate Middleton, where they continue to work together as a team. Meanwhile, relations between Kate and Meghan are reportedly more tense than ever. The two women have had very little communication since 2019, only sharing brief pleasantries over the years. According to Scobie, Kate has even joked about shivering at the mention of Meghan's name.

In September 2022, Harry and Meghan had a brief reunion with Kate, William and Charles for the queen's funeral. Their interactions remained limited as the distance between Harry and his relatives continues to grow. Royal expert Christopher Andersen suggested earlier this year that the drama has actually brought William and Charles closer together.

Exclusive: According to Andersen, in July the family had to present a united front against Harry and Meghan. They have faced insults from within their own family, creating a challenging situation. However, they have emerged from this with a strengthened bond.
