There will be no royal tension at what is expected to be the wedding of the season. Prince Harry will not be attending the wedding of his friend, Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, next month. His older brother, Prince William, will be an usher at the ceremony, as reported by The Sunday Times.
Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to skip the ceremony to prevent Harry's strained relationship with William from taking attention away from his friend's special day, according to the Times.
Olivia Henson, 31, will tie the knot with Grosvenor, 33, at Chester Cathedral in Chester, England on June 7. Approximately 400 guests are anticipated to be in attendance, as reported by the publication.
Grosvenor, considered one of the richest men in the U.K., is godfather to both Archie, 5, and William’s eldest son, Prince George, 10.
His own godfather is King Charles III.
The British monarch is not expected to attend the wedding as he is still receiving cancer treatment.
Charles and Queen Camilla will be attending an event in France commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings on June 6, the day before the wedding, as per Buckingham Palace's announcement last week.
Princess Kate Middleton, William's wife, is currently unable to attend the wedding as she is receiving cancer treatment, according to the Times.
During a recent royal engagement at St. Mary’s Community Hospital on the Isles of Scilly, William provided an update on his wife’s condition. The hospital is located on an archipelago off the Cornish coast in southwest England.
The administrator Tracy Smith gave the heir to the throne a tour of the facility on May 10. She inquired about Princess Kate's well-being, to which he replied that she is "doing well."
During the tour, William was asked about his children. He jokingly mentioned that his children are jealous that he is there and hinted that they might visit later in the year.
Kate shared her cancer diagnosis in March after doctors discovered cancerous tissue during surgery in January. She revealed in a video released by Kensington Palace that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Kate mentioned that she is staying positive and focusing on healing her mind, body, and spirit. She expressed gratitude for the support of her husband William and the kindness shown by many.
Editor's P/S:
It is heartwarming to see that, despite the recent tensions between Prince Harry and Prince William, they are putting aside their differences for the sake of their friend's wedding. This shows that they still value their friendship and want to support Hugh Grosvenor on his special day. It is also understandable that Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to skip the ceremony to avoid any potential overshadowing of the event.
The article also highlights the close relationship between the British royal family and the Duke of Westminster, with both Prince William and King Charles III serving as godfathers to Grosvenor's children. It is a testament to the importance of family and friendship within the royal circle and their commitment to supporting each other through life's milestones.
