It appears that no parent is immune to their child’s style critiques — not even Angelina Jolie.
The 48-year-old actress discussed her everyday fashion sense in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. In the article published on Tuesday, December 5, she mentioned her daughter's jokes about her tendency to wear too many trench coats, describing it as a way to hide. Angelina Jolie, who has six children, including Maddox, 21, Zahara Marley, 17, Shiloh, 16, Pax, 18, Vivienne, 14, and Knox Léon, 14, revealed that she prefers low-key and practical clothing for her day-to-day routine, often pairing sweatpants with a trench coat as she runs errands. Despite her glamorous image as a famous movie star, Jolie's iconic street style has been documented for many years.
The Maleficent actress revealed to the publication that she integrates her personal style with her role as a mother. She often opts for comfortable pieces such as sweaters, shift dresses, trousers, and tote bags, particularly favoring those from Saint Laurent and Celine. "Being a mom has deeply influenced my identity," Jolie shared.
During the interview, Jolie also discussed her recent foray into the fashion world with the launch of her new clothing line, Atelier Jolie, and how those close to her were taken aback by her career shift.

“You, in fashion? No,” Jolie said. “I’ve never been to a fashion show or Met Ball my entire life.”
When it came to creating Atelier Jolie, the actress began by asking questions that too few people in the fashion industry ever contemplate.

Jolie pondered out loud to WSJ, "Is it possible to make and wear clothes without causing harm to the earth and the garment workers? Can I enjoy fashion without hurting anybody and actually treat people well?" Her emphasis on ethical treatment of garment workers and sustainability in her designs brings a much-needed perspective to the fashion industry.

One of the most impressive features of Atelier Jolie is the presence of a physical store made of real bricks, situated in the vibrant NoHo neighborhood of New York City, and now accessible to everyone.
Furthermore, the establishment will offer more than just a retail space for clothing. Jolie intends to integrate a cafe, Eat Offbeat, managed by immigrant and refugee chefs, as well as a community area that will facilitate educational events centered around design. Additionally, customers seeking a more personalized experience can schedule private appointments in the upstairs studio for custom-made clothing items.
