Oliver Hudson and Erinn Bartlett's Love Story: From Acting Classmates to Family of Five

Oliver Hudson and Erinn Bartlett have experienced many challenges in their relationship.

Despite meeting and falling in love while studying acting, Hudson was unsure about getting married. He admitted on a January 2022 episode of E!'s Daily Pop, "I was hesitant about marriage. I looked up to my stepfather, Kurt Russell, and my mom, Goldie Hawn, as having the perfect relationship."

Hudson's mother played a vital role in changing his views on marriage. She noticed that he was showering Bartlett with jewelry, except for an engagement ring. Hudson admitted that he was hesitant about marriage, but his mother questioned if he truly wanted to spend his life with Bartlett. Eventually, he realized he was deeply in love and decided to propose. Despite being scared, he gave Bartlett the ring, and they were engaged for two and a half years.

Hudson and Bartlett got married in 2006. They have three children together - sons Wilder and Bodhi, and daughter Rio. Let's take a look back at some of their best relationship moments.

1990s

Hudson shared in a joint interview with Access Hollywood in February 2023 that he and Bartlett started off as friends before becoming a couple. He described their friendship as intense, mentioning that they were paired together in a scene which made him realize his feelings for her. Despite liking her, Hudson mentioned that he initially held back because he wanted to be a good friend.

They eventually connected romantically during a “Super Bowl weekend” after splitting from their respective partners.

February 2004

Hudson proposed to Bartlett in his brand new West Hollywood home.

During an episode of the "Sibling Revelry" podcast in April 2024, Hudson confessed that he had been unfaithful to Bartlett while they were engaged. He shared, "When I got engaged, something changed in me mentally, and I started going downhill. I made the mistake of cheating and acting irrationally."

Hudson admitted to Bartlett about his actions because he couldn't bear the guilt of keeping it a secret while planning a future together. They were able to work through it, but Hudson doesn't dwell on regrets. He believes every choice, good or bad, shapes who he is today.

June 2006

The couple said “I do” during a Mexico wedding ceremony attended by family members and close friends.

August 2007

Hudson and Bartlett become parents with the birth of their eldest son, Wilder.

March 2010

The duo’s family continued to grow with the addition of their middle child, son Bodhi.

July 2013

Hawn shared the exciting news that her son and Bartlett had welcomed their third child, a baby girl named Rio, through X. The actress expressed her happiness by welcoming Rio into their family and thanking the couple for bringing so much joy into their lives.

September 2018

Hudson exclusively gave We a funny glimpse into his and Bartlett’s relationship, revealing they had gotten multiple Brazilian waxes together.

He recalled how it all began when she asked him to run errands, including that particular one. As he completed the task, unexpected enjoyable experiences followed, leading to more outings together. However, he later realized that the pain outweighed the joy, and he decided to move on.

May 2022

The spouses launched their “Unconsciously Coupled” podcast and opened up about their relationship, family life and more.

June 2023

Hudson celebrated his 17th wedding anniversary with Bartlett by posting a throwback and recent photo of them on Instagram. He captioned the pictures with, "17 years ago today... TODAY!!!! Happy anniversary my beautiful queen!!!!!"
