New York City Mayor Eric Adams is considering the possibility of revoking the Key to the City that he presented to Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2023. During an interview with NYC’s PIX11 on Monday, May 20, Adams, 63, expressed his concern after watching a disturbing video of Combs assaulting a young woman. He mentioned that the city has never taken back a key before.
Adams mentioned that the committee is currently reviewing everything and will inform him of their final decision soon.
In September 2023, the politician awarded Diddy, 54, with the Key to the City as a recognition of his achievements in music, business, and philanthropy. Diddy received a red plaque and a large gold key during the ceremony.
"I vow to continue supporting the city that shaped me," Diddy expressed during his speech. "I appreciate the acknowledgment of my journey and commitment to inspire and empower others. Let's work together to create more memorable moments in history."

Recently, Adams has expressed considering taking back the honor following the release of a 2016 video by CNN. The video captured Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway, where he was seen kicking and physically dragging Cassie, who is now 37 years old. The video quickly spread online on Friday, May 17.
Cassie’s lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, stated on Friday that the gut-wrenching video has solidified Mr. Comb’s alarming and predatory actions. He commended Ms. Ventura for her bravery in speaking out against him.
Following this, Diddy apologized a few days later, but faced heavy criticism from the public.
Reflecting on the toughest moments in life can be challenging, but sometimes it's necessary. In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 19, the musician opened up about hitting rock bottom and taking responsibility for his unacceptable behavior.
Diddy and Cassie were in an on-and-off relationship from 2007 to 2018. Cassie initially accused Diddy of physical abuse and sexual assault in a lawsuit filed in November 2023, but it was dropped the next day. Despite multiple similar accusations from other individuals, Diddy has consistently denied them.

Homeland Security raided Diddy’s homes in California and Florida in March as part of a sex trafficking investigation. Diddy did not speak publicly about the raids, but his lawyer, Aaron Dyer, said they used excessive force, like something out of a military operation.
According to Dyer, Diddy was not detained during the raids and he cooperated with the authorities. Despite rumors in the media, neither Diddy nor any of his family members were arrested. Their travel was not restricted in any way.

Editor's P/S:
Mayor Eric Adams' consideration to revoke Diddy's Key to the City highlights the consequences of domestic violence and the need for accountability. The disturbing video of Diddy assaulting Cassie sheds light on the prevalence of this issue and the importance of addressing it. Adams' decision to review the matter demonstrates that such behavior will not be tolerated, even from high-profile individuals.
It is crucial to recognize that domestic violence is a complex issue with long-lasting effects on victims. Cassie's bravery in speaking out against Diddy is commendable, and her experience should serve as a reminder that perpetrators must be held responsible for their actions. The fact that Diddy has faced similar accusations from others should raise concerns and prompt further investigation. It is essential to support organizations that provide resources and assistance to victims of domestic violence, and to create a society where such behavior is unacceptable.
