Nobody 2, the highly awaited sequel to Bob Odenkirk’s successful action film, has received a much-anticipated update from one of its cast members.
Keanu Reeves revolutionized the action genre with John Wick, focusing on the ruthless efficiency of an assassin's work and the intense physical toll it takes, rather than the traditional tropes of muscular heroes and witty one-liners.
The Equalizer movies starring Denzel Washington have a common allure: they feature a weathered yet formidable man who dispatches wrongdoers with stylish and grim panache. Films like Atomic Blonde, Extraction, and Violent Night have captured a similar gritty, tangible aesthetic.
Among those following in Wick’s path, Nobody stands out as a major triumph. Fans have been eagerly anticipating news about the sequel, and finally, we have an update.
Nobody 2 star confirms sequel is happening
Connie Nielsen, who plays the wife of Odenkirk’s Hutch, recently discussed Nobody 2 across two interviews.
In an interview with Comic Book, she confirmed that the project is in progress, but was unable to provide any details at this time.
Speaking to Screen Rant, she expressed her admiration for Bob, describing him as cool, fun, and sweet, with unbelievable energy. She also emphasized her love for the family dynamic, highlighting the natural tensions and underlying love that binds them together. She expressed excitement for the opportunity to return to this great family and story.
The initial movie focused on Hutch, a working-class family man who is reignited by a home invasion, prompting him to confront his dark past. However, seeking revenge puts him at odds with a dangerous crime boss. Despite scarce updates, producer Kelly McCormick hinted at plans to start production in 2023, possibly delayed due to strike action, with filming potentially starting in 2024.
"We believe that it’s not enough to simply make a sequel; it needs to be a great one. We are focused on getting it right, and if we do, there is great potential for next year," she explained. No release date has been set for Nobody 2, but further details can be found here.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic fan of the original "Nobody" movie, I am thrilled to hear about the long-awaited update for the sequel. The first movie was a refreshing take on the action genre, with Bob Odenkirk delivering a standout performance as the unassuming family man turned ruthless vigilante. The gritty realism and intense fight scenes were a breath of fresh air, and I can't wait to see what the sequel has in store.
The fact that Connie Nielsen, who played Odenkirk's wife in the first movie, is so enthusiastic about the sequel only adds to my excitement. Her comments about the family dynamic and the underlying love that binds them together make me believe that the sequel will not only deliver more action but also explore the emotional depth of the characters. I am also intrigued by the possibility of seeing more of Hutch's dark past and how it continues to shape his present.
