Nikki Glaser criticized Ben Affleck for his lackluster performance at The Roast of Tom Brady. During an interview on Barstool Sports' "KFC Radio" podcast on May 16, Glaser, 39, expressed her disappointment, saying, "He didn't prepare." She believed that Affleck, being a famous figure, may have felt that participating in the roast was beneath him, and therefore only saw it as a small favor rather than a significant event.
Glaser, who mentioned she hadn't seen the live Netflix special because she doesn't enjoy watching people fail, confessed that she has experienced similar situations as Affleck.
"I have been in the same position before and when you actually do it, you realize that it's much bigger than you anticipated. You might have been slacking off," she said.
Glaser mentioned that Ben Affleck, who is 51 years old, likely had to present his ideas to the writers and ended up focusing on a theme where he expresses his frustration with tweets. Podcaster Kevin Clancy chimed in, suggesting that Affleck's approach was self-centered, putting more emphasis on himself rather than Tom Brady.
Glaser also pointed out that there were plenty of jokes available that could have made a great set, but wondered why Affleck's performance did not resonate well with the audience.
"He either couldn't connect with him on the phone to figure something out, didn't practice enough, or chose a weak idea and had to stick with it," she explained. "It didn't click immediately, so it won't work later on."
At a recent special event, Affleck went on stage to make fun of Brady, 46, and Patriots fans who have been critical of the player. "You're not real fans. You're a bunch of whiners," Affleck stated.
Kevin Hart, the host of The Roast of Tom Brady, jokingly referred to Affleck's performance as "Another piece of white boy humor." Comedian Jeff Ross also got in on the fun with a quip about the set, saying, "This is the first time I wish Netflix had commercials."
In addition to Affleck, the special included appearances from Rob Gronkowski, Kim Kardashian, and Glaser.
Brady later expressed remorse for his participation in the roast and mentioned that he would not do it again because of how it impacted the people he cares about the most in the world - his children.
During an episode of the "Pivot Podcast" on Tuesday, May 14, Brady explained, "I didn't like the way the roast jokes affected my kids." He shares his son Jack, 16, with Bridget Moynahan and his children Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11, with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.
After Brady’s confession, Glaser mentioned on Today With Hoda & Jenna that he may not have fully considered how his family would react to the situation. She also pointed out that she believed Brady would have done his research before getting involved in anything.
During the appearance on May 15, Glaser expressed her view that it was hard to believe Brady hadn't anticipated any backlash, especially with existing footage that could have indicated the intensity of the response. She also considered that Brady, with his successful career and widespread admiration, may not have experienced negative feedback for a long time, which could have influenced his understanding of the situation.

Nikki Glaser's critique of Ben Affleck's performance at The Roast of Tom Brady highlights the importance of preparation and the potential consequences of underestimating the significance of such events. Glaser's own experiences resonate with Affleck's, emphasizing that even seasoned professionals can fall short when they fail to fully engage with the task at hand. The roast's intention was to honor Tom Brady, but Affleck's self-centered approach and lack of preparation resulted in a performance that missed the mark.
Glaser's observations raise questions about Affleck's motivations and whether he truly understood the nature of the event. It's possible that his fame and success led him to believe that his participation alone would suffice, resulting in a lackluster performance that disappointed both the audience and the roast's organizers. Additionally, the fact that Tom Brady later expressed regret over his involvement in the roast suggests that the event may have caused unintended harm, reinforcing the need for careful consideration when engaging in public events that involve humor and potential controversy.
