Feature Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Teenage Kids Harlow and Sparrow Make Red Carpet Debut to Support Mom
Lionel Richie, Lisa Parigi, Harlow Madden, Sparrow Madden, Nicole Richie, Brenda Harvey-Richie, and Joel Madden were all present at the Los Angeles premiere of “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” on April 02, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. The event was a star-studded affair with many celebrities in attendance.
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s children, Harlow (16) and Sparrow (14), joined their parents for their first appearance on the red carpet at The Grove in Los Angeles. They showed their support for their mom at the premiere of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead on April 2.
The whole family chose to wear all-black outfits for a family picture. Harlow resembled her mother in a black corset and leather pants, while Sparrow took after his father.
Nicole's father, Lionel Richie, was present with his girlfriend, Lisa Parigi. The family photo also featured Nicole's mom and Lionel's ex-wife, Brenda Harvey-Richie. (Nicole was adopted by Lionel and Brenda at the age of 9.)
Nicole's younger sister, Sofia Richie, was not seen on the red carpet, but she did attend the event. Inside the movie theater, Sofia, 25, expressed her excitement by posting an Instagram Story and tagging her sister.
In the Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead remake, Nicole, 42, plays the role of Rose, while Simone Joy Jones portrays Tanya Crandell. The two actresses happily posed together at the film's premiere, celebrating their work on the project.

Jones' character, Tanya, in the modern take on the 1990s classic is portrayed as taking care of her siblings after their babysitter unexpectedly passes away. In order to support her family, Tanya accepts a job working for a wealthy woman named Rose.
At the premiere on Tuesday, Nicole was seen posing for individual photos with her fellow cast members, as well as with her father, Lionel, 74, and her husband, Joel, 45. However, Nicole and Joel's children were only included in the complete family picture.
Nicole and Joel got married in 2010. They had Harlow in 2008 and Sparrow in 2009. According to Joel, taking care of the kids has been relatively easy over the years.
During an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show in November 2023, the Good Charlotte musician expressed his gratitude for his children. Joel mentioned, "We are fortunate to have such easy kids. They make parenting a breeze. I always remind them how effortless they make it for me to be a dad. They are wonderful kids, just like their mom."
Nicole has openly talked about the possibility of her children following in her famous footsteps. She mentioned that if they wanted to become television stars, she would support them, even though it might be a different path for them.
In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Nicole shared that she would consider the type of opportunity her kids are interested in. While they are currently preteens, she might say no to certain things. However, once they reach 18 and want to pursue something that feels right and authentic to them, she is completely okay with it.
