Jimmy Fallon was taken by surprise when Nicole Kidman appeared on his show in 2015. During an interview with Deadline on Thursday, April 25, Fallon, 49, shared how Kidman caught him off guard. They were supposed to discuss one of her movies or an upcoming award, but Kidman dropped a bombshell. She mentioned that they had dated and she had a crush on him, even visiting his apartment.
Fallon, who has hosted The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon since 2014, was completely caught off guard and shared that his face “just melted.”
“It was the most embarrassing thing,” he added.
In January 2015, Fallon revealed that he unexpectedly met Kidman, who was 56 years old at the time, through a mutual friend who brought her to his apartment.
Walking down the streets of New York City, Fallon received a call from his friend Rick, who informed him that Nicole Kidman was with him and wanted to meet Fallon for a potential role in Bewitched. Rick mentioned that they could be at Fallon's apartment in just 10 minutes. Fallon, surprised by the sudden visit, admitted to Kidman that he was not ready for guests as he wasn't used to having people over.
After Fallon shared the funny story, Kidman shocked him by admitting that she had a crush on him.
"I just remembered I had a crush on you. But now, I'm married to Keith Urban since 2006," she said, referring to her husband. "But back then, Rick mentioned that Jimmy wanted to meet me and I was single."
Fallon, who has been married to Nancy Juvonen since 2007, was surprised by her confession and asked, "Wait, what? Could I have dated Nicole Kidman?"
Kidman then shared that when she visited Fallon's apartment, he didn't try to impress her. "He barely said a word, just making some sounds like 'Hey, mmm, mmm, mmm!'" she playfully recalled.
Fallon confessed that he felt "nervous" and was unsure of what to say.
He shared, "I didn't realize this was a date, I thought it was just hanging out or something." Kidman then responded, "It felt awkward because we didn't really talk much. I even thought, 'Maybe he's not interested, this is embarrassing.' So I left thinking, 'Okay, no chemistry. Maybe he's not into women!'"
After Kidman made her comment, Fallon felt too embarrassed and eventually left the set.
It has been almost ten years since the infamous interview, but Fallon revealed that he and Urban, who is now 56, still joke about it to this day.
At the Met Gala, I approached Keith and mentioned that we might have dated in the past. He found it funny and suggested a prank involving Nicole. Keith advised me to go hold Nicole's hand while she was chatting with someone, pretending to be him. Then he would come over and wave at her from a distance.
Even though I was hesitant about potentially getting slapped, I decided to go along with the prank.
He went into the room and took a seat next to Nicole. He reached for her hand, and she held it as if it belonged to Keith. He noticed she was gently rubbing his hand while chatting. Suddenly, Keith approached the person Nicole was talking to and greeted her with a casual "Hi Nic." Surprised, Nicole turned to him and exclaimed, "What?! Jimmy, what are you doing?" He quickly responded, "It was his idea!"
