The official team of the live-action film adaptation of the popular manga My Home Hero released the trailer on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday, November 22. The trailer unveiled that the movie is set to premiere on March 8, 2024, along with the release of the key visual.

My Home Hero, originally a manga illustrated by Masashi Asaki and written by Naoki Yamakawa, first appeared in Kodansha’s Seinen magazine, Weekly Young Magazine. Since its initial publication, it has been adapted into an anime and a live-action drama.

At the time of this writing, the English-translated version of the trailer has not been released. However, there is quite a bit of information that viewers can unpack. The trailer opens with Tetsuo Tosu killing someone before introducing his wife, Kasen Tosu, who is shocked at the sight of a corpse in their apartment. A b-roll from the trailer also briefly introduces the couple’s daughter, Reika Tosu.

The preview also depicted Tetsuo Tosu's relentless pursuit of new methods to eliminate targets and evade detection. The main character appeared to be entangled with highly dangerous individuals affiliated with major criminal syndicates. The preview concluded by unveiling the film's release date, set for March 8, 2024.

Cast

The key visual for the My Home Hero live-action film is clearly inspired by the cover of volume 1 of the manga. The image features the protagonist, Tetsuo Tosu, wearing a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a thin tie around his neck. He appears distressed and is depicted standing outside on a rainy night.

The film boasts an impressive lineup of talented actors, with Sasaki taking on the role of protagonist Tetsuo. His previous credits include memorable performances as Fukube in 20th Century Boys and Seiji Akitsu in Godzilla Minus One in their respective live-action incarnations.

In the upcoming film, Kyohei Takahashi has been cast as Kyoichi Majima, Asuka Saito as Reika Tosu, and Tae Kimura as Kasen Tosu. Tae Kimura, who previously portrayed Miyuki in the live-action drama adaptation of Great Teacher Onizuka, will take on the role of Kasen Tosu. Eisaku Yoshida has also been added to the cast as Yoshitatsu Matori.

As a Gen Z fan, I am incredibly excited about the upcoming live-action film adaptation of My Home Hero. The manga and anime series are both incredibly popular, and I have been eagerly anticipating the release of this film since it was first announced.

The trailer looks amazing, and I can't wait to see the story come to life on the big screen. The cast is perfect, and I think they will all do an amazing job of bringing the characters to life. I'm especially excited to see Kuranosuke Sasaki as Tetsuo Tosu, as he is one of my favorite actors.

Overall, I think this film has the potential to be a huge hit, and I can't wait to see it when it comes out in March 2024.
