The pivotal moment in Rudeus' journey in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is undoubtedly the Teleport Incident, also known as the Metastasis Event, which had a profound impact on the Fittoa Region in the Asura Kingdom. This unfortunate event led to Rudeus, Eris, and a significant number of people in the region, including their loved ones, being randomly transported to different parts of the world. The teleportation resulted in the loss of many lives and the disappearance of others, effectively obliterating Rudeus' hometown of Buena Village and causing widespread devastation throughout the Fittoa Region.

The Build Up To The Tragedy

The cause of the incident in the first season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation was not clearly disclosed, but Season 2 is likely to delve into it with more depth. The effects of this event were so significant that the actual number of casualties resulting from it could not be accurately determined. This incident served as the catalyst for Rudeus' initial adventure and his journey back home with Eris from the Demon Continent. Their bond, which would later be explored in the series, was formed during this time. Consequently, it holds great importance in Rudeus' life, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the revelation of what led to it.

Mushoku Tensei: Unveiling the Dynamic Teleportation Mystery

Before the start of the story in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, numerous teleportation incidents occurred in the Six-Faced World. These events eventually led to the banishment of Teleportation Magic, causing much controversy. In the original version of this world, there existed six distinct realms, each inhabited by a unique race. These realms were the Dragon World, the Sky World, the Demon World, the Beast World, the Ocean World, and the Human World, with the Void World positioned between them all.

Conflicts between realms were frequent, and the utilization of teleportation between them gave rise to considerable suspicion, as the arrival of individuals from alternate realms was occasionally perceived as a precursor to an invasion. The equilibrium of mana across all the realms is what maintained stability, and any disturbances are rectified through teleportation occurrences where trees, animals, and people are all transported to other dimensions. Over time, as the other five realms succumbed, all the surviving inhabitants from those realms embarked on a journey to the Human World and settled there, establishing it as the primary backdrop for the story.

What Caused The Teleport Incident?

The foundation of the Teleport Incident was laid almost 80 years ahead, by an individual referred to as the Playback Miko. This extraordinary person possessed the power to rewind time for a duration of 24 hours. It was during a tumultuous period of war when a particular nation harnessed the Playback Miko's abilities to summon a hero from another realm, as foretold by a prophecy. The Miko gradually developed deep emotions for this young man, and their world shattered when he tragically perished on the battlefield, forcibly thrust into the midst of conflict.

She made a firm decision to exhaust all her power to bring forth another person who shared similar emotions with her, specifically the girlfriend from his original world named Nanahoshi Shizuka. The plan was to transport her to the Fittoa Region, 80 years before the war, in order to manipulate events and prevent the boy from being caught in the conflict. Initially, her attempt was unsuccessful as the world itself resisted her desire to change fate. However, it created a rift in space and time, allowing a recently deceased soul to enter the Human World and be reborn as Rudeus Greyrat.

As Rudeus spent more time in this world and began exerting a greater influence, the world's resistance weakened, while the power of the Miko grew stronger. This shift was visualized as a glowing red orb in the skies above the Fittoa Region. Gradually, as the orb grew in size and reached a critical point, the world lost its ability to resist the Miko's will, ultimately leading to the successful summoning of the boy's girlfriend to the Human World. This event became the catalyst for the Teleport Incident in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, which brought devastation to the entire Fittoa Region and forever altered the lives of its inhabitants.

The Fallout Of The Calamity

Perugius Dola and Kishirika Kishirisu, key characters in the series, were quick to notice the gathering of mana around the orb prior to the event. Perugius even dispatched his servant, Almanfi, to investigate this anomaly. The calamity began with a magnificent pillar of light emanating from the skies above the orb. Gradually, it grew in width, covering a significant portion of the Fittoa Region and transporting everyone caught within it to various locations in the Human World.

This event served as the catalyst for Rudeus and Eris' journey, as they were suddenly transported from the Fittoa Region to the Demon Continent. Had it not been for this Teleport Incident, their bond would not have formed to the same extent, nor would they have developed romantic feelings for each other, despite their closeness during their time in Roa. Additionally, it was during their time in the Demon Continent that they encountered Ruijerd, who ended up accompanying them on their journey back home.

Rudeus' family members also faced the consequences of the calamity. Paul and Norn were sent to the southern regions of the Asura Kingdom, specifically the city of Millishion, in order to search for the rest of their family. Sylphiette, on the other hand, was sent to the palace of the Asura Kingdom and had to take on a new identity as she became the bodyguard for Ariel Anemoi Asura, the kingdom's second princess.

Lilia and Aisha were teleported to the Shirone Kingdom, where they were held captive by Pax Shirone. Zenith, unfortunately, found herself transported to the Teleportation Labyrinth and was imprisoned there for several years. Finally, Nanahoshi was summoned to the Asura Kingdom and rescued by the Dragon God Orsted, who then became her travel companion.

Ghislaine also experienced a similar fate, as she was transported to the Strife Zone where she discovered that Philip and Hilda Boreas Greyrat had passed away. With the Fittoa Region left devastated, Eris' grandfather, Sauros Boreas Greyrat, was unjustly held responsible for the tragedy as the region's ruler. He was executed as punishment, despite his inability to prevent the calamity, and James Boreas Greyrat took over his position. Sadly, both Buena Village and Roa were completely destroyed, leaving behind nothing but rubble.
