In an exclusive interview with We, Petsch revealed her enthusiasm for Cheryl Blossom's storyline conclusion and her excitement about her own future. Reflecting on her experience as an actor on the show, Petsch described the week of wrapping as one of the most challenging in her life. She expressed immense gratitude towards the cast and crew, whom she considers to be incredibly talented individuals. Having worked closely with them for seven years, saying goodbye to the crew proved to be the most difficult part. While promoting her video campaign for the new Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé, the 28-year-old actress shared her deep appreciation for the time she spent with her Riverdale family.

Petsch expressed a mixture of emotions as production wrapped up on the popular CW series in June. With its series finale set to air on August 23, based on characters from Archie Comics, she revealed that bidding farewell to the cast and crew who poured their passion into the show was the most challenging part. However, she acknowledged that it was also the right time to let go of her character, Cheryl, and she is eager to see how her story's conclusion will be received by fans.

Petsch has flawlessly embodied Cheryl Blossom in Riverdale since its debut in 2017. Her performances have consistently captivated audiences as Cheryl navigated through grief, encountered the unexpected world of witchcraft, and much more. Additionally, Petsch has made her mark by collaborating with Vanessa Morgan to artistically depict Cheryl's iconic love story with Toni Topaz.

Vanessa has been my closest friend even before the show began. It was an incredible experience to portray her onscreen love interest, considering the natural chemistry we share. What sets Vanessa apart is her ability to infuse authenticity and genuine love into every scene we're in together, even if we're just in the background. This shared commitment ensured that Choni, our characters, always felt real and believable to the audience. Throughout the final episodes of the season, we took great care in defining and shaping our relationship to ensure it resonates with the viewers and brings them true satisfaction." Reflecting on her time on Riverdale, Petsch commended the series for imparting valuable lessons. She expressed appreciation for the unpredictable nature of the production process, with scripts often arriving on the day of filming and last-minute rewrites being common. This dynamic environment forced the cast to think on their feet and work efficiently, providing a valuable learning experience for any actor looking to grow and pursue a career in the industry.

Petsch, however, is not eager to immediately jump back into work after dedicating seven years to one project.

"I am filled with anticipation for my upcoming vacation, as it will allow me to dedicate some time to self-reflection and personal growth. Moreover, I strongly believe that this period is crucial for me to detach myself from the character I have portrayed for many years. If I were to dive into another project immediately, remnants of her might linger within me," she shared with Us. "Hence, it is imperative that I utilize this time to separate Cheryl from my true self and embark on this next significant phase of my career."

Petsch expressed that she is still navigating the process of prioritizing her mental well-being amidst this major life transition.

"I don't have all the answers on what to do in this situation. There's no rulebook or guide on how to handle it. However, I recently went on a spa retreat with my close friend Caroline Day, who used to play Heather on the show a couple of years ago," Petsch explained. "I spent two entire days working out, getting massages, and trying to distance myself from the heavy atmosphere that has been present towards the end of the show. Now, I'm focused on creating a cozy and comforting space at home - I think that will be beneficial. And of course, I have my regular therapy sessions." As Petsch continues to prioritize herself, she remains open to potential projects in the future, basing her decisions on her intuition and her experience in the entertainment industry.

I love having variety in my career, but when it comes to my next steps, it all depends on the character I'm playing. I consider whether I can easily immerse myself in the character's persona or not. Sometimes, I find it intriguing to have a challenging time getting into a character because it requires more effort. And I genuinely enjoy the work. So, for me, it's all about what I read in the script and how I can bring the character to life and truly embody them.

Petsch continued: "There's no particular pattern or logic to the characters I connect with. It's simply a feeling. That's the best way I can describe it."

Petsch, Gutierrez, and Basso collaborated on filming the entire Strangers remake trilogy consecutively, preceding the conclusion of Riverdale. Petsch eagerly anticipates the appreciation of fans for the franchise.

Petsch recently partnered with Mercedes-Benz for the global debut of their new CLE vehicles. As a brand ambassador since 2019, she collaborated on a social media campaign that showcases the car's exclusive comfort features, advanced driving performance, and sleek design.

She expressed her excitement about shooting the ad, describing Mercedes-Benz as a wonderful company that feels like a family. Being a part of this unique opportunity in Lisbon, which was her first visit to the city, was an incredibly cool and special experience for her. Working with a brilliant director and a lovely team, the shoot was a fun and successful endeavor that left her absolutely thrilled.

Petsch expressed her enthusiasm for the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé's massage seat features and the company's dedication to achieving full electric capability by the end of the decade. She praised Mercedes-Benz for their forward-thinking approach and expressed excitement about the car having a hybrid component, believing that more cars should follow suit.

Additionally, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé is expected to be available for purchase at U.S. dealerships in early 2024. Customers will also have the option to purchase the CLE Cabriolet.
