Mind-Blowing Super Mario RPG Remake Reveals Astonishing Hidden Secrets After 27 Years

Discover the stunning high-definition graphics of the long-awaited Super Mario RPG remake, offering a fresh perspective on the beloved SNES classic after 27 years Uncover exciting new details that breathe new life into this iconic game

The updated graphics in the Super Mario RPG remake have revealed a new detail about the original game, more than 27 years after its release. This discovery was made following the June 21 Nintendo Direct, which confirmed that the Super Mario RPG remake would be coming to the Switch in November 2023.

In a specific stage of the original Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, released in 1996, players encounter a toy box that contains dolls of Princess Peach, Metroid's Samus Aran, and the F-Type racer from Stunt Race FX. This particular scene was showcased in the reveal trailer for the remake during the latest Nintendo Direct, appearing towards the end of the promotional video.

After analyzing the video, a keen-eyed Twitter user named BridgeOfFaust noticed that the design in question includes Diskun, the somewhat forgotten mascot of the Famicom Disk System. This peripheral, which was released exclusively in Japan in 1986, added a unique floppy disk feature to Nintendo's third-generation console. As a result, Diskun, also known as Mr. Disk, is a rather obscure character in Nintendo's extensive history. A comparison between the scene in the original game and its remade counterpart confirms that this cameo is not a new addition to the remake. In fact, Diskun has been present all along, but the 16-bit graphics of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars made it difficult to notice.

Numerous fans who have come across this discovery online have expressed their astonishment at the level of detail put into the character designs of the 1996 game, despite the graphical limitations that hindered players from fully appreciating that effort. Some have also speculated about what other hidden details Legend of the Seven Stars may hold, which will only become apparent once the upcoming remake is released. Regardless, considering Nintendo's impressive track record and the fact that the original game still holds its place as one of the best Super Mario RPGs of all time, fans of the franchise can anticipate an enjoyable experience this autumn.

Super Mario RPG is set to release on November 17 for the Nintendo Switch. While Mr. Disk may not be a widely recognized character globally, Nintendo has given him a small role in the reveal trailer for the game's remake. This isn't the first time Nintendo has included a cameo for Mr. Disk, as attentive fans may have noticed a Diskun Easter Egg in The Super Mario Bros. Movie when it was released in early April.
