Now, a new generation of Mario fans will get to experience this captivating tale with the upcoming remake for Nintendo Switch. Since the announcement of the remake, fans of the original SNES game have eagerly compared gameplay footage and discovered hidden Easter eggs in the new version.
In RetroRPG's recent comparison video, they showcased the upcoming remake of Super Mario RPG for Nintendo Switch alongside the original SNES version. The video displayed the reveal trailer for the remake in the top left-hand corner, while the bottom right-hand corner featured gameplay footage from the original SNES game, both highlighting the similarities and differences between the two versions. Notably, RetroRPG's footage revealed that despite featuring new visuals and different cutscene angles, the opening cutscenes of the Super Mario RPG remake closely resemble those of the original game. Furthermore, the running animation of Mario and the isometric view of the combat system in the remake appear to be largely unchanged, as demonstrated in RetroRPG's comparison video. Additionally, enemy placement in the remake remains identical to the original game in various locations such as Mushroom Way and Kero Sewers. However, all characters and enemies have been given new models that resemble those seen in recent Super Mario games.
The latest video by RetroRPG highlights Nintendo's dedication to maintaining the distinct essence of the SNES game, Super Mario RPG.
