From season 2 has come to a thrilling conclusion, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats. The show, available for streaming on MGM+, follows the journey of Boyd (Harold Perrineau) and a dynamic ensemble cast. As the characters find themselves trapped in their town, the suspense and twists have been building up, leading to an explosive climax on June 25.

Since the start of From season 1, the entire township has been held captive by a menacing force, creating a sense of unease and fear. Sheriff Boyd, amidst this chaos, has also faced personal challenges, particularly in his strained relationship with his son Ellis (Corteon Moore). As he navigates the difficult circumstances, Boyd's internal struggles add another layer of complexity to the narrative, culminating in an intense finale for season 2.

We speak to Harold Perrineau about the From season 2 finale, and how Boyd has evolved as a character over the course of the season.

Screen Rant: What was the biggest differences in doing the finales of From season 1 and season 2 from your perspective?

After the events of season 2, Boyd finds himself battered but also with a sense of satisfaction. Unlike last season, where he was left with a giant question, this time he can trust that he isn't going crazy. While there are still bigger questions for the show overall, Boyd experiences a small measure of contentment, if one can even call it that.

In season 2, Boyd's character arc reaches a pivotal moment in the finale. Viewers will likely be struck by the intensity of his emotions as he confronts his own beliefs and challenges the higher power. This turning point signifies that Boyd has reached his breaking point and is willing to go to extreme measures. Despite this, his determination and unwavering resilience will earn the trust of the audience. They will have confidence that no matter what obstacles Boyd faces, he will continue to fight to protect and save those around him.

In the season 2 finale, Boyd is the only character on the show who experiences any satisfaction. However, the rest of the characters are about to face significant trauma. The events involving Tabitha will be particularly traumatizing for her family, Victor, and the entire town. While this is just my speculation about the future, it seems that Boyd is the only one who has found any satisfaction thus far.

As far as Boyd's relationship with his son Ellis, how do you feel that has progressed over the course of From season 2?

At the end of season 1, Boyd finds himself trapped in a well, and by the end of season 2, only a few days have passed. Since the Matthews' arrival, it has been approximately a couple of weeks. In terms of Boyd's relationship with Ellis, they have reached a point where they can at least discuss Ellis' mother, Abby. However, there is still some tension between them and areas where they disagree. Boyd is not handling everything perfectly, as evidenced by his tendency to leave abruptly, prioritizing his missions over his son and Ellis' mother. This pattern repeats throughout season two, and although things are improving, the strain will always exist. It is a timeless challenge faced by fathers and sons, where the child feels abandoned when the father goes to work. This dynamic is currently present in their relationship.

Boyd faced a significant obstacle in season 2 - his own mind. He struggled to find a secure place within himself and lacked the ability to trust his own instincts. This internal battle proved to be his greatest challenge throughout the entire season.

One standout moment for me in the season 2 finale of From is when Boyd confronts God and boldly questions His actions, asking "What do you think you're doing here?" As an actor, this scene felt incredibly significant to me, as it explores the power dynamics between Boyd and a higher being. Additionally, the subsequent push towards finding resolution adds further depth to Boyd's character development throughout the season.
