Sega and Atlus have confirmed that demos of two highly anticipated Persona games, Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica, will be available to play at the upcoming Gamescom event. Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the original 2006 RPG, while Persona 5 Tactica is a strategy RPG featuring the beloved Phantom Thieves in a new adventure set in a different world.
Persona 5 Tactica is set to be released in November of this year, while the Persona 3 remake is scheduled for early 2024. Atlus has announced that fans will have the opportunity to try out these Persona games themselves at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Gamescom is one of the largest gaming conventions worldwide, and Sega had showcased a demo for Sonic Frontiers at the event last year. This year, the Japanese publisher will also be attending the 2023 iteration of Gamescom, presenting demos of their upcoming releases, including the aforementioned Persona games.
Content from both Sega and Atlus' official social media feeds confirmed that Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica will be available for gameplay on the show floor at Gamescom. This marks the first time the public will have the opportunity to play these two games, allowing them to experience the features of Persona 5 Tactica and Persona 3 Reload. Although specific details about the content included in the demos have not been provided, previous demos suggest that they will be timed, giving players the chance to try out a particular section of each game. These demos will be available throughout the event, which takes place from August 23 to 27, 2023.
Sega will also be showcasing other upcoming releases at Gamescom, such as the co-op platformer Sonic Superstars, the spin-off Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Samba De Amigo: Party Central, among others. All the games featured at Gamescom are scheduled for release this year, or are already available titles that fans can test out to determine if they are worth purchasing.
Various publishers and companies, including both Indie game studios and major players like Nintendo and Ubisoft, will have a presence at Gamescom. Fans eagerly anticipate the opportunity to play the Persona demos showcased at the event on the platforms they are released on, but as of now, no official announcements confirming such plans have been made.
