Summary

In Ahsoka episode 7, there is a notable live-action reference to Asajj Ventress, a significant character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars that hasn't appeared in this form for two decades. The episode begins with Ahsoka Tano engaged in a training scene, honing her lightsaber skills, while Anakin Skywalker hints at the possibility of her engaging in a duel with Asajj Ventress.

Ahsoka, the show, pays tribute to both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels by skillfully incorporating a diverse array of characters and storylines from both series.

In episode 7 of Ahsoka, a significant moment unfolds as Asajj Ventress, a prominent character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is referenced in live-action for the first time in two decades. The Clone Wars have captivated Star Wars audiences ever since Obi-Wan Kenobi mentioned them in the original movie. While George Lucas explored the beginnings and conclusions of this saga in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, there is still much more to be told.

Genndy Tartakovsky was initially tasked with delving into the Clone Wars through an animated TV show. He cherished the chance to share thrilling Jedi-focused escapades and introduce a plethora of fresh characters and ideas. Unfortunately, these elements were essentially disregarded as part of the canon when Lucas himself decided to fully narrate the story of the Clone Wars alongside his own apprentice, Dave Filoni. However, they still paid homage to Tartakovsky's version by incorporating its characters and events into their own storyline. Now, after two decades, one of these characters has finally made her first appearance in live-action.

Asajj Ventress Is Name-Dropped In Ahsoka Episode 7

Mind-Blowing Live-Action Debut of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Characters After 20 Years!

In the opening scene of Ahsoka episode 7, Ahsoka Tano engages in a training session to sharpen her lightsaber skills in preparation for a rematch with Baylan Skoll. To guide her, she relies on a holovid recording created by her master, Anakin Skywalker, during her initial training in the art of Djem So. This particular lightsaber form proves highly effective when facing off against other lightsaber-wielders. As the training session unfolds, Anakin's recording, presumably from the early days of the Clone Wars, includes his belief that Ahsoka will likely encounter formidable opponents such as Count Dooku, General Grievous, and potentially even Asajj Ventress.

Asajj Ventress, once Count Dooku's apprentice, originated from unused concepts for a female Sith Lord during the development of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Ventress eventually emerges as a significant antagonist in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, cunningly manipulated by both Dooku and Palpatine, only to be ultimately betrayed by them. Notably, Anakin Skywalker's holographic message marks the first-ever live-action mention of Ventress in the Star Wars universe.

Ahsoka Is Honoring Clone Wars As Well As Rebels

Ahsoka is Dave Filoni's inaugural live-action television series, serving as a tribute to both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The latter connection is evident as Ahsoka's cast and characters include several beloved heroes from Star Wars Rebels, and the central storyline stems from the finale of that show. Additionally, the inclusion of the World Between Worlds delves into Ahsoka's training alongside Anakin Skywalker, with the notable inclusion of Hayden Christensen donning the Clone Wars Anakin attire for the first time. Furthermore, episode 7 of Ahsoka also incorporates a mention of Asajj Ventress. This convergence of interconnected narratives is truly captivating.

New episodes of Ahsoka are released on Disney+ every Tuesday at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
