Reportedly, a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid game is still in the works, even as Konami is busy with the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Areajugones, a Spanish website, has revealed that the Metal Gear Solid remake is currently in the early stages of development and is considered one of Konami's most ambitious projects. This comes after Areajugones accurately reported on the Valhalla DLC expansion for God of War Ragnarok before its official announcement at The Game Awards 2023.
According to Areajugones, the Metal Gear Solid remake will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5, not for PlayStation 4. However, it may not be exclusive to PlayStation overall, as the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is expected to be released on multiple platforms. The studio responsible for the remake, whether it is Konami or an external studio, has not been confirmed.
Konami is currently developing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the third installment, and a remake of Silent Hill 2 in collaboration with developer Bloober Team. Both games are anticipated to be released in 2024, although Konami has not officially announced any release dates.
The first five entries of the series are available for fans to enjoy while they wait for the next installment, with the release of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S in October 2023.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am thrilled to hear about the progress being made on the Metal Gear Solid remake. The Metal Gear Solid series holds a special place in my heart, and I have fond memories of playing the original game on the PlayStation. The prospect of experiencing this classic game with updated graphics and gameplay mechanics is incredibly exciting. I believe that this remake has the potential to introduce the series to a new generation of gamers and rekindle the passion of long-time fans.
However, I am slightly disappointed to learn that the Metal Gear Solid remake will be exclusive to PlayStation 5. While I understand the desire to take advantage of the latest hardware, this decision may alienate fans who do not own a PlayStation 5. I hope that Konami will consider releasing the remake on other platforms in the future to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy this iconic game.
