Melrose Place, the beloved TV show, is making a comeback after twenty years since it last aired.

According to Deadline, the reboot of the show is in the works and is currently being pitched to various networks and streaming platforms. It will feature original cast members like Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton, and Daphne Zuniga.

The new series of Melrose Place will take place years after the original, reuniting former residents Amanda, Sydney, and Jo after the sudden death of a close friend. This reunion will bring to light old traumas, rekindle past romances, reignite old resentments, and reveal new secrets, leading our characters into chaotic drama with a modern perspective.

Originally airing on Fox from 1992 to 1999, Melrose Place was a spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210. The show followed the lives of young residents in a Los Angeles apartment complex, with stars like Locklear, Leighton, and Zuniga appearing since the first season. Other cast members included Josie Bissett, Andrew Shue, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Grant Show, Thomas Calabro, and Doug Savant, with Leighton and Savant being married in real life.

Deadline noted that more original cast members are expected to join the show if it comes to fruition.

Melrose Place was rebooted by The CW in 2009 with a new cast. Locklear, Leighton, and Zuniga all made guest appearances to reprise their roles. However, the series was canceled after just one season.

In 2020, the original cast of Melrose Place came together for a virtual reunion to support The Actors Fund. During the panel, Leighton shared how the cast has stayed connected over the years.

Leighton expressed missing the close bond with the cast and crew, who had become like family during their time working together. Despite the challenges of no longer seeing each other daily, the cast has remained in touch throughout the years. This special connection has kept them feeling like a family, even as their lives have taken different paths.

Shue, 57, meanwhile, took the opportunity to praise Locklear after her past substance abuse struggles and mental health issues.

"Let me just say this, the one question I get from everybody when they talk about the show is, 'Tell me what Heather's like in real life? Does she really date all these rocker guys?' And my answer, which I'll share with everyone watching, is that she's the sweetest, nicest, most professional, awesome person I know," Shue said. "We're all really excited to see you."

Locklear expressed gratitude to her former costars for their support. She mentioned that it was the cast, the crew, and the years spent together that made the experience special. They worked on numerous episodes and even juggled two at a time. It was a collaborative effort where they all helped each other out, creating a strong bond within the group.

Editor's P/S:

I am thrilled to hear about the reboot of Melrose Place. The original series was a cultural phenomenon that defined a generation, and I can't wait to see what the new iteration will bring. The return of original cast members Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton, and Daphne Zuniga is particularly exciting, as they were integral to the show's success. I am confident that the reboot will capture the same magic as the original while also updating it for a contemporary audience.

However, I also have some concerns. The 2009 reboot was not well-received, and I worry that the same fate could befall this new version. Additionally, I hope that the writers will be able to balance the nostalgia factor with fresh storylines and characters. It will be important to strike the right balance between honoring the legacy of the original show and creating something new and exciting.
