Simon Cowell is eagerly awaiting Mel B's return to America's Got Talent on its new spinoff, AGT: Fantasy League. Discussing Mel's unpredictable and highly competitive nature, Cowell expressed his excitement about her joining the show during the season 18 finale on September 27.

Cowell revealed that the team initially invited Sofía Vergara to join the new series, which is set to premiere in 2024, but she was unable to participate. As a result, the clear choice for the fourth judge was Mel, also known as Melanie Brown.

According to Cowell, there was unanimous agreement among the team that Mel would be the perfect fit. He highlighted her enjoyable personality and intelligence, mentioning her successful tenure with the Spice Girls. Cowell emphasized that her unpredictable nature adds an intriguing element to the show, making it an exciting prospect.

Mel took a step back from America's Got Talent in 2018 and has since focused more on the Spice Girls and her solo projects. In November of the same year, the Spice Girls announced a reunion tour including Mel (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie C (Sporty Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice). However, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), the original fifth member, did not join them for any stops on the 2019 tour.

Cowell, on his part, expressed that he would be happy to have Mel perform with her bandmates on America's Got Talent, but only if it made sense for the singer.

"I absolutely adore that group. In my opinion, the Spice Girls were undoubtedly the greatest girl band of all time, and Mel played a pivotal role in their immense success," he ecstatically exclaimed. "As I mentioned, she possesses exceptional intelligence. Moreover, off camera, she embodies the qualities of a remarkable individual – incredibly kind-hearted. While interacting with her, one can also experience her engaging sense of humor and, as I previously mentioned, unpredictability. Undoubtedly, these traits contribute to the enjoyable collaboration we share."

Mel B's Triumphant Return to 'America's Got Talent' Has Simon Cowell on the Edge of His Seat

Mel B, Simon Cowell, and Heidi Klum were present at the "America's Got Talent: Fantasy League" Red Carpet event on September 20, 2023, as seen in a photograph by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images. Terry Crews, the host of America's Got Talent, expressed his excitement at reuniting with Mel B, whom he previously worked with during his hosting of season 1 of America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2019.

On Wednesday, he expressed his exclusive admiration for Mel B, stating, "Mel B is the driving force behind AGT. When you consider the numerous seasons she has been a part of, it becomes clear that her name is inseparable from America's Got Talent."

Mel B initially joined America's Got Talent as a judge in 2013 for season 8. She continued to be an integral part of the panel for an additional five seasons before departing in 2018 after season 13. The following year, she made a comeback as a judge for the inaugural season of America's Got Talent: The Champions.

When AGT: Fantasy League begins next year, Mel will reunite with Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, all three of whom have been judges on the OG show for years.

AGT: Fantasy League, in contrast to the original series, will showcase the judges as they vie against one another, each curating their own team of performers. These performers will be selected from a group of 60 previous participants and reduced to 40 before the show's debut.
