Matt Lauer and his girlfriend Shamin Abas were among the 140 guests at Don Lemon's wedding to Tim Malone in New York City on April 6. The ceremony took place at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and was officiated by Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States ambassador to the United Nations. Other attendees included Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, Sunny Hostin, Tamron Hall, Luann de Lesseps, Clive Davis, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Alec and Hilaria Baldwin.

Former Today anchor Lauer, 66, was seen wearing a navy suit jacket and a white-and-blue patterned shirt while holding hands with Abas outside the venue. Abas, a businesswoman, chose to wear a striped dress paired with a coordinating cardigan and a sparkling tan top.

Lauer and Abas have been in a relationship since 2019, following his divorce from ex-wife Annette Roque after more than 20 years of marriage. The couple initially separated when Lauer was terminated from NBC in 2017 due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Lauer was fired after a former NBC employee, later identified as Brooke Nevils, accused him of sexual assault, which Lauer denied. Subsequently, more women came forward with their own accusations against the former morning show host.

Lauer recently joined his former Today colleagues at the wedding of ex-show producer Jennifer Long in New York City on December 9. Alongside Abas, he was joined by Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Al Roker. Also present were former GMA3 reporters Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, who were released by ABC in 2022 due to their workplace relationship.

Guthrie, 52, has reportedly shown no interest in being friends with Matt Lauer. A source mentioned in 2020 that she has refused to hear anything he has to say. Lauer feels betrayed by Guthrie for quickly turning against him when the story broke.

Lauer has been keeping a low profile since his scandal, but a source revealed in July 2022 that he is eager for a comeback. The insider mentioned that Lauer is looking into a podcast deal as he realizes his TV career is finished. His children, Jack, Romy, and Thijs, are reportedly supportive of his career plans.

Lemon and Malone’s wedding ceremony was a lovely affair, featuring a unity candle lighting with their mothers, heartfelt readings and speeches from Malone’s nieces and sisters, and an Irish blessing to honor Malone’s family heritage. Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed dancing, dinner, and dessert at the Polo Bar.

Lemon, aged 58, and Malone, aged 39, looked sharp in their custom double-breasted suits from Suit Supply. Lemon opted for a stylish green velvet suit while Malone rocked a classy blue one. The couple, consisting of the former CNN anchor and his husband, are excited to honeymoon in the beautiful southern coast of Italy come June.

Editor's P/S:

Matt Lauer's attendance at Don Lemon's wedding has stirred mixed emotions. Some may find it inappropriate given the sexual misconduct allegations against him, while others may believe that he has paid his dues and deserves a chance to rebuild his life. It's important to remember that Lauer has denied the allegations and has not been convicted of any crime.

Lauer's appearance also highlights the changing landscape of accountability in the wake of the #MeToo movement. While there is a growing recognition of the need to hold powerful men accountable for their actions, there is also a debate about whether they should be completely ostracized from society. Lauer's return to public life, even in a limited capacity, suggests that there may be a path to redemption for those who have been accused of misconduct. However, it remains to be seen whether the public is ready to forgive and forget, and whether Lauer can truly move on from his past.
