Get quick access to Windows 11's Task Manager with 'always on top' mode Enabling it guarantees the Task Manager will launch in this mode every time, even in situations where the standard version won't appear Keep track of your system's performance with this handy feature

To enhance its functionality, Windows 11’s Task Manager has been redesigned with an always-on-top mode. By enabling this mode, the Task Manager will always stay on top of other open windows, even when it is not the active window. This feature is particularly useful when you need to monitor system processes while working on other applications.

Enabling Always on Top Mode is a simple process. You can launch the Task Manager using any of these methods: pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc, right-clicking an empty space on the taskbar and selecting “Task Manager,” searching “Task Manager” in the Start menu, or pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and selecting “Task Manager.” Once the Task Manager is open, simply click on the “Options” tab and select “Always on Top” to activate the feature. With this mode enabled, the Task Manager will always be visible and accessible, even in situations where the standard Task Manager fails to appear.

Click on the "Settings" option in the shape of a gear located at the bottom-left corner of the Task Manager window. In case you are unable to locate it, click on the menu button situated at the top-left corner of the window.

To ensure that the Task Manager is always visible, simply activate the “Always on top” checkbox under Window management. This will keep the Task Manager on top of all other windows, allowing you to easily monitor your system's performance without having to search for it. Once you enable this option, the Task Manager will remain on top every time you open it until you choose to disable it.

Microsoft's Jen Gentleman has noted that enabling the always-on-top mode for the Task Manager in Windows 11 will allow it to appear in more situations. To launch the Task Manager window, simply press Ctrl+Shift+Esc anywhere in the operating system. When the "Always on Top" feature is enabled, the Task Manager will appear above other application windows that may be occupying your entire screen. In some cases, such as when a PC game freezes and takes up the entire screen, the Task Manager may launch behind it.
