Defeat the menacing Gorm'gant Worm boss in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies' Act 4 Bad Signal story mission with our expert tips

In the latest update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Season 1 is now available, complete with the new Zombies Act 4 story mission and a challenging boss fight. While the mission may not pose too much of a challenge at first, the boss fight can quickly become overwhelming if you're not prepared. Here, we provide a guide on how to defeat this troublesome opponent with minimal stress.

The "Bad Signal" mission, found on the map at the beginning of the match, serves as the Act 4 story mission. Prior to diving in, it's recommended to make preparations and stock up on gear. For an easier time, it's best to team up with others rather than tackling the mission solo.

The setup

It is essential to equip an operator already equipped with a 3-plate vest and a self-revive. Additionally, it is crucial to have at least one ranged weapon such as an LMG or assault rifle with a large ammo count to maintain distance from the boss. Upgrading weapons instantly with high rarity Aether tools and crystals is also beneficial. Packing the backpack with perks like Juggernog, Quick Revive, and Stamin-Up is recommended. Utilizing sentry guns or mortar strikes as killstreaks can be advantageous, while decoys and monkey bombs serve as excellent tactical equipment.

It is crucial for everyone to have at least one fully Pack-a-Punched gun. Furthermore, one team member should spawn in with the RGL-80 launcher as their secondary weapon.

You can complete a couple of contracts to earn enough cash to purchase any perks or gear you require. However, bringing in as much as possible will reduce your setup time. If you come across any turret circuits, it's advisable to grab them for a boss fight. Look for extra self-revives while scavenging if you can. You might not need them if you're using the Healing Aura field upgrade, but it's better to be overprepared than underprepared.

When you're prepared, proceed to the Bad Signal story mission marker on your map. All players in your party must be ready to start this mission.

Bad Signal mission and Gorm'gant boss fight

Embark on the story mission by heading inside and breaking four seals. While it's not a challenging task, remember that you have a 30-minute time limit, so stay focused and avoid getting distracted by random enemies and looting.

Head straight to one of the yellow objective markers and begin breaking the seals. Eliminate zombies near the designated pillar for the quest. Continue doing this until the meter is full. Repeat this process for all four seals.

The next stage of the mission will guide you to an exit portal, but Gorm'gant will appear and hinder your escape. If you've encountered the previous worm boss in Act 3, you'll find this worm to be significantly more aggressive.

Please take note of the nearby ammo cache located on the beach near the cliffside, as you may need to resupply later. Then, swiftly return uphill towards the road and the fortress. It is important to remain on the road or further back at all times, unless you are in need of ammunition.

The worm is capable of launching rapid attacks and will consume you if you get too close. In the event that the worm consumes you, rapidly press the button for your parachute. The game does not provide a prompt indicating that you can utilize your parachute in this situation, but otherwise you will perish from fall damage.

Encounter the formidable Gorm'gant worm boss

Deploy sentry guns along the road and enhance their firepower with any circuit mods you have gathered. This boss battle is challenging even when fighting from a distance along the road, but there is a tactical location further up at the fortress that provides additional advantages.

Deploy decoys or monkeys to distract the zombies and shoot any floating purple orbs that come near you. Your main focus should be on the worm itself, targeting its glowing purple weak spots. When the worm burrows underground, act fast to prevent it from healing. Use the grenade launcher to force it back to the surface and avoid prolonging the battle. Being swift with the launcher can significantly impact the duration of the fight.

Locked Diary mission reward

With these tips you should hopefully be able to take out Gorm'gant, and you'll want to collect the "Locked Diary" item from the reward rift.

Leave the mission and claim the mission reward. You can now opt to pursue an Easter egg quest that will grant you access to Dark Aether Rifts and unlock the latest powerful schematics for this season.
