Remnant 2 is widely known for its challenging gameplay. Players will navigate through various worlds, battling a variety of formidable monsters, such as the deadly Dran and Fae of Lohsom, as well as the menacing Root, a world-devouring force that is always present. With each fight posing a significant challenge, especially in the game's more difficult modes, surviving becomes a true feat. While it may seem tempting to approach Remnant 2 similar to Dark Souls, simply evading attacks won't suffice. To assist newcomers in their journey across the realms, here are seven valuable tips to make their experience a little smoother.
7 Stick with One Set of Weapons
In order to optimize their gameplay, players should resist the temptation to use every weapon they come across and instead focus on a specific set during their initial campaign run. This is because Scrap, the main currency in the game, and upgrade materials are relatively scarce. It is advisable to prioritize the upgrade of weapons as the cost can be quite high. Players need to strive to become as powerful as possible by the time they reach the final stages of their first campaign. A recommended goal is to upgrade a preferred Long Gun to a minimum of +15 by the end of the third world, which will help make the final act more manageable.
6 How to Get More Scrap
Scrap is now given in significantly smaller amounts compared to the first Remnant. An effective method to obtain more Scrap is by searching chests, which are now conveniently displayed on the 3D map. Players can easily identify hidden chests by the shimmering noise they produce.
Another approach to acquire Scrap is by destructing prop items such as barrels and vases regularly. Opt for a melee weapon with a wide swing, like the Greatsword, or simply roll through to shatter them.
5 Use Mutators
In Remnant 2, armor sets no longer provide unique bonuses. These bonuses have been transferred to Mutators, which are special items that can be inserted into any of the player's weapons. While they are moderately useful in the early stages, their true potential is unleashed once they have been fully upgraded.
To upgrade Mutators, players must visit Dwell located in front of the shooting range in Ward 13. However, this upgrade process requires a significant amount of resources, so it is advisable to come prepared with ample supplies.
4 How to Backstep
A backstep is a defensive maneuver that offers faster movement compared to a regular dodge roll. It proves especially useful for evading combo attacks and engaging in combat in confined areas. To execute a backstep, simply press the dodge button without making any directional inputs.
Following a backstep, you can proceed with a standard or charged melee attack. Each melee weapon in the game features a distinctive lunging move associated with this technique, with certain weapons boasting exclusive special attacks that are exclusively available after performing a backstep.
3 Dealing with Armored Targets
Armored enemies have higher resistance to physical attacks, resulting in reduced damage. To overcome this, players can try targeting specific body parts, continuously shooting the armor to weaken it, or switch to a weapon that inflicts elemental damage. Even a regular gun equipped with Hot Shot or Acid Shot modifications can easily penetrate the armor of an enemy.
Utilizing damage-over-time effects such as Bleeding and Burning can be highly effective in bypassing armor. Guns or modifications that induce the Corroded status effectively nullify armor protection as well.
2 Equip Relic Fragments
Players can enhance their stats by inserting Relic Fragments into their equipped Relics. To do this, open the Inventory screen, examine a Relic, and hover over the vacant fragment slots.
Relic Fragments provide stat enhancements that are categorized into offensive, defensive, and utility. By taking on more challenging difficulties, players can obtain superior versions of these fragments, with Regal-tier fragments obtainable in Apocalypse mode.
1 Swap Archetypes for Faster Leveling
To level up their chosen secondary archetype more quickly, players should switch to it after reaching level 10 with their main archetype. The main archetype earns more XP than the secondary one, making this a beneficial approach, with the only downside being the exclusion of one archetype's Prime Perk. In order to unlock a second archetype, players must spend a minimum of 10 Trait Points and acquire class-specific items, which can be obtained through either finding or purchasing them, and then unlocking them by conversing with Wally at Ward 13.
Remnant 2 releases July 25 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
