In Baldur's Gate 3, Act 2 introduces the treacherous Shadow-Cursed Lands that pose significant dangers to the unprepared. Nevertheless, players are granted considerable freedom in determining their approach to traversing these perilous lands.

How to Find Kansif's Camp
only one method of crossing will deliver players straight to its doorstep. The cultists of the Absolute are expecting new True Souls to arrive from the Mountain Pass area and are waiting to escort them safely to Moonrise. By utilizing their tadpoles, players can assume the identity of these new True Souls, not only ensuring safe passage but also providing an easier means of infiltrating the ranks of the cultists upon arrival. To traverse the realms plagued by the Shadow Curse under the guidance of the Absolute, players must first make their way to the designated meeting spot. Here, the half-orc scribe Kansif patiently awaits, ready to accompany the fledgling True Souls on their journey to the majestic Moonrise Towers.
Kansif's camp is situated in the eastern part of the Shadow-Cursed Lands and can easily be located by players who have taken the route through the Mountain Pass. As soon as players enter the area from this route, they will come across a goblin brawler who will inquire if they are True Souls and then direct them to Kansif.
Kansif can be found in a hollow further south, accompanied by a few goblin and half-orc cultists serving as guards. When players arrive, Kansif will welcome them as True Souls. If players have sided with Minthara, the Nightwarden would have already explained the purpose of meeting with Kansif. Otherwise, players will have to use deception during the initial introductions if they wish to be guided through the Shadow-Cursed Lands by Kar'niss.
How to Summon Kar'niss
After successfully deceiving Kansif as genuine True Souls, players will be asked by the half-orc to summon the guide. To accomplish this, they will need the Spider's Lyre, which they either received from Minthara or acquired from her lifeless body. To locate the Lyre, players who have misplaced it should follow these steps:
1. Head back to the Goblin Camp and verify if Minthara's corpse has been thoroughly searched.
Please make sure to go to Camp and thoroughly inspect all personal chests to see if someone has taken the Lyre without wanting the additional weight.
Additionally, please investigate any vendors who may have purchased the Lyre from the players. If the Tiefling refugees have already departed from the Emerald Grove, these vendors will no longer be accessible.
If a player has the Spider's Lyre in their possession and talks to Kansif, they will be given the choice to play it and summon Kar'niss. Successfully playing the Lyre requires a Performance check, but regardless of the outcome, Kar'niss will heed the summons.
In the event of a failed check, Kar'niss will show frustration at the mistreatment of his mistress' Lyre. Conversely, a successful check will result in Kar'niss being excited to meet new True Souls and accompany them through the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
How to Cross the Shadow-Cursed Lands
Although one might request to inspect Kar'niss' Moon Lantern prior to embarking on the adventure, he will decline. Nevertheless, specific clues within their conversation should elucidate that it is, in fact, the Moon Lantern that affords protection against the detrimental shadow curse, rather than Kar'niss personally or any kind of blessing from the Absolute.
Once players have embraced Kar'niss' guidance, it is crucial for them to stick close to the Drider in order to stay within the protective radius of his Moon Lantern. This can prove challenging as his large, many-legged body often obstructs the narrower parts of the path. Nevertheless, there is a fortunate aspect to this situation, as should any character fall behind enough to be affected by the curse, the game will promptly shift into Turn-Based Mode, giving them the opportunity to catch up before Kar'niss continues onward.
During the journey to Moonrise Towers, Kar'niss and the other cultists will face an unexpected attack from the Harpers of the Last Light Inn. Depending on their allegiance, players can either protect Kar'niss and maintain their disguise as True Souls, or seize the opportunity to betray the Drider and potentially acquire his Moon Lantern.
Those who opt to betray Kar'niss will face additional challenges in gaining access to Moonrise Towers as True Souls. On the other hand, defending Kar'niss will allow players to complete the remainder of the journey without any disturbances and gain immediate entry into Moonrise Towers as anticipated by their guide.
Players who wish to maintain their disguise as True Souls but have a hidden agenda of aligning with the Last Light Inn can utilize non-lethal attacks in this battle. However, it remains uncertain whether this will have any impact on their future interactions with the Harpers.
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently accessible on macOS and PC, with a release on PS5 scheduled for September 6. The Xbox version is set to launch at some point in 2023.
