Fort Solis marks the screen debut of Fallen Leaf studios, a game developer. It is a psychological thriller with a strong focus on narrative. In this game, players assume the roles of Jack Leary and Jessica Appleton, two engineers who find themselves responding to an alarm on the Martian colony. As they arrive at the seemingly abandoned station, they soon discover that they are not alone.
As the story progresses to Chapter 3, Jack is captured and players now take control of Jessica. Armed with a door-cutting tool, Jessica's mission is to end the lockdown protocol in order to regain access to all areas of the base. To accomplish this, she must journey to the Comms Hub, located on the opposite side of the Atrium from the Maintenance Unit. However, before she can enter, she must first clear the main entrance, which is obstructed by debris from a storm. Fortunately, there is a winch nearby that she can use to remove the obstruction.
The Sequence
Upon entering the Comms Hub, Jessica discovers that the main computer does not grant enough access to override the lockdown. To proceed, she must descend the stairway into the Server Room, where she comes across a deceased man with a severed arm. Using the arm, she manages to unlock a nearby terminal that presents players with a puzzle they must solve in order to advance. The computer displays the numbers 25, 28, 23, 25, 39. Observant players might notice that each server in the Server Room is numbered from 020 to 039.
By successfully solving the specific puzzle associated with each terminal, players can clear this section of the code. However, it is crucial to solve the sequence in the exact order it is presented for it to work. Incorrectly inputting any of these numbers will lead to having to restart the sequence from the beginning, causing significant frustration. As some aisles between the servers are inaccessible from certain sides, this can nearly double the time required to complete this mission.
The Puzzle
Each server will be accompanied by a small interactive panel for Jessica. It's important for players to note that every server, including those not in the code sequence, will have a panel. Double-checking and ensuring interaction with the correct control panel is essential before proceeding. When the panel is opened, a small square will appear in the center of the screen, with four lines moving to and from it in a specific order.
By pressing the button at the precise moment, players can unlock the server. Timing can sometimes be challenging, but it is generally recommended to wait for the square in the center to fill before reacting, rather than attempting to time the lines in advance. Once the servers are unlocked in the correct sequence, players will gain access to the Level 4 keycard. This keycard will grant them entry to the Maintenance Unit and the Canteen, where they can discover Adam Hoskins' ID for Level 5 access.
