Leveling up a character in Diablo 4 can be a time-consuming and monotonous task, often requiring players to dedicate several hours to a single character just to reach a level suitable for tackling the game's harder challenges. However, there are ways to speed up the process and quickly boost a new character's power, provided players have the necessary resources at their disposal.
Rather than replaying the campaign from scratch, players can opt to jump straight into the free-roam Adventure mode, where all of the game's content is immediately available. With so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming to know where to begin. To help players efficiently level up their alts, here's a guide on which activities to prioritize.
Leveling Alts in Diablo 4
To make leveling less monotonous, players should prioritize obtaining Renown and Altar of Lilith bonuses on their main character. These bonuses are active for all characters in the same realm, allowing even a level 1 character to start with substantial advantages. With these bonuses, alts can reach World Tier 2 and enjoy a 20% EXP boost.
Renown provides additional Potion slots and up to 10 extra Skill Points for all characters in the same realm. Altars of Lilith, on the other hand, offer up to 68 additional points to every stat, greatly enhancing the offensive and defensive capabilities of a level 1 character.
Players can equip gear collected on their other characters on alts, provided they meet the level requirement. It's worth noting that extremely rare elite enemies may drop loot that can enhance an alt character's build, so keep an eye out for them.
Alt EXP Farming
Players have a plethora of options for farming EXP with all the dungeons available right from the start. To make the most of this, it's recommended to choose dungeons with kill objectives for their first half. These can be completed quickly and with very little effort. The Ruins of Eridu has been a popular choice for EXP farming, even after it was nerfed. However, any dungeon with kill objectives should theoretically provide the same benefits.
For more complex dungeons that have multiple paths or tasks, it's advisable to bring along a group of players to help with completing them. This way, everyone can contribute their unique skills and abilities to ensure a successful outcome.
If repetitive farming isn't your thing, there's always the option of going for Tree of Whispers bounties instead. These events appear randomly throughout the world, and by completing them and earning 10 Grim Favors, players can visit the Tree of Whispers in Hawezar to receive a loot box and a generous amount of bonus EXP. This is a great way to mix up the gameplay while still earning rewards.
Players can exploit their high-level friends by participating in Nightmare or Torment difficulty dungeons, despite being under-leveled. The strategy is to enter the dungeon and wait by the entrance, while the high-level friend takes care of clearing the path. Although the Ruins of Eridu dungeon is the most suitable location for this tactic, any area with a significant monster population will suffice. It is important to note that players will need to defeat Capstone to progress. Diablo 4 is accessible on various platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
