The recent update for Call of Duty: Warzone has impacted three popular handguns, which might disappoint players who prefer using pistols in combat. Activision has been consistently releasing patches since the start of the current season. Season 4 Reloaded introduced Temp-V superpowers to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, altering the gameplay with fresh content and visuals. However, due to these updates, Activision has also had to swiftly introduce additional patches to address and adjust the game as the season progresses. Sniper rifles, shotguns, and SMGs have experienced lesser effects from the nerfs, giving players alternative options. More updates are anticipated to further balance the gameplay.
Warzone has recently made several updates to address various issues. They have nerfed a new field upgrade, fixed bugs, and implemented more restrictions in ranked play. Another update has now been released, introducing additional nerfs to the game.
On July 24, a patch for Call of Duty: Warzone was released, which reduced the damage of the Basilisk, FTAC Siege, and X13 Auto handguns in different ways. Specifically, the Basilisk's damage output was only reduced when equipped with Snakeshot and Akimbo, while the other two pistols had their maximum damage decreased overall. The patch notes suggest that the changes to the Basilisk and X13 Auto were intended to fix unintended high damage output. As for the FTAC Siege, it appears that it was simply too powerful and needed to be rebalanced.
Along with a variety of other changes, the same patch brought about several nerfs and buffs to different weapons, as well as additional bug fixes for both Call of Duty and Warzone. However, operators who prefer the high-speed, dual-wielded pistol approach will face significant setbacks due to the trio of pistol nerfs. While none of them are considered the optimal close-quarters weapons in Warzone, they still have a loyal following and can be handy as secondary firearms.
Currently, sniper rifles, shotguns, and SMGs appear to be less affected by the recent wave of nerfs, making them viable alternatives. Specifically, shotguns can serve as substitutes for players who used Basilisk pistols with Snakeshot, performing similarly and serving the same purpose.
Season 4 Reloaded and the Call of Duty x The Boys collaboration may signal a new trend, but Activision is still actively addressing any problems that arise. It wouldn't be surprising to see more updates in the upcoming days, including further adjustments to balance the gameplay. In the meantime, fans should stay updated with the latest statistics and adapt accordingly.
