Xbox Game Pass subscribers can anticipate the addition of some exciting new games in the near future. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Like a Dragon: Ishin will be joining the subscription service's extensive library, along with several other titles. Like a Dragon Gaiden will be available on Game Pass from its launch date of November 9, making it a day-one release. Xbox announced this news at the Tokyo Game Show.
Taking place after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and during Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Like a Dragon Gaiden delves into the story of Kazuma Kiryu, the renowned Yakuza member who staged his own death to ensure the safety of his family. Now operating under the alias of Joryu, Kiryu becomes entangled in a new conspiracy that threatens to expose his true identity and endanger his loved ones. Marketed as a shorter adventure within the Like a Dragon franchise, this game also serves as a precursor to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which is set for release in January 2024. Completing Like a Dragon Gaiden unlocks exclusive scenes that will not be accessible in the upcoming game.
Released earlier this year, Like a Dragon: Ishin defied expectations by bringing an impossible port to Western audiences on multiple platforms. Unlike its modern-era counterparts, this samurai epic immerses players in feudal Japan as they wield the sword of Sakamoto Ryoma and embark on a quest to uncover the truth behind his father's murder. While the exact release date is still unknown, Xbox has confirmed that it will be available on Game Pass later this year.
Adding to the variety of offerings from Japan, Game Pass subscribers can also anticipate the arrival of the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on September 26. Furthermore, in 2024, the franchise will expand with the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Joining a few previously confirmed titles, Like a Dragon and Ace Attorney games are coming to Xbox Game Pass. Several other day-one releases have also been announced, including Mineko's Night Market (October 26), Persona 5 Tactica (November 17), and Persona 3 Reload (February 2, 2024). In the second half of September, four new day-one releases will be available, but seven games will be leaving the Game Pass library.
From the Xbox Tokyo Game Show panel, it was announced that Octopath Traveler II will be arriving on Xbox platforms in early 2024. Additionally, a 2.5D "slasher film parodic action" game called Hotel Barcelona from Swery65 and Suda51 was confirmed, along with a first look at the action-adventure game Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi.
