Mary-Louise Parker's Surprising Reaction to Ex Billy Crudup's Marriage to Naomi Watts

"I hope that Billy and Naomi have found happiness together," said Mary-Louise Parker, speaking candidly about her ex-husband's marriage in a recent interview with The Guardian. "As the mother of his child, it's important to me that he is happy and fulfilled in his personal life, and I wish them both all the best."

Parker and Crudup were together for seven years before the actor ended things to pursue a relationship with Claire Danes, whom he met while filming. Parker was pregnant at the time and gave birth to their son William in January 2004. In her 2015 book, Dear Mr. You, Parker hinted at the breakup without directly naming Crudup, sharing a story about being lost in a cab with a driver.

"I am struggling with being alone while pregnant. Every breath is painful and I don't have anyone to turn to for support. Despite my efforts, I feel helpless and hopeless. I apologize for my outburst earlier. It's becoming increasingly difficult for me to do simple tasks like putting on my shoes. Can you please take a moment to look at me and understand what I'm going through?"

During an interview with Howard Stern in October 2015, Danes discussed her past relationship with Crudup, almost a decade after their split. The Stardust actress admitted that she was deeply in love with him at the time and felt the need to explore their romance despite the potential consequences. Looking back, she described the experience as scary and challenging, admitting that she didn't know how to navigate the situation. However, she did note that she and Crudup remained friendly even after their breakup.

The couple, Crudup and Watts, aged 54, got married in a private ceremony at a New York City courthouse on Friday, June 9th, after their engagement in April. According to an insider, the couple wanted to keep the occasion low-key and intimate, and they successfully managed to do so, making their nuptials a stress-free and spontaneous affair.
