In October 2023, Marvin made another announcement, stating that he would be taking a break from his position in the Lions for the rest of the 2023/2024 NFL season due to personal family matters. He acknowledged that this decision was not easy, but he felt that he couldn't fulfill his role on the team while also giving his family the attention and support they needed during this time.
