Marvel's Kevin Feige Shares Disappointing Update on His Star Wars Film

Kevin Feige's Star Wars project faces improbable odds, akin to skillfully maneuvering through treacherous asteroid fields

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has denied rumors of him working on a Star Wars movie. During an interview promoting The Marvels, Feige clarified that there are no plans for him to be involved in a galaxy far, far away. This comes after reports in 2019 suggested that Feige was set to produce a Star Wars film, with then-Disney co-chairman Alan Horn even confirming the collaboration between Feige and Lucasfilm president, Kathy Kennedy. However, it seems that these reports were not accurate.

Feige clarified his involvement in the Star Wars franchise in 2021, stating that he was solely focused on working on a movie. Given his reputation for being heavily involved in the MCU, rumors circulated that he may also venture into the realm of Star Wars. However, earlier this year, Kathleen Kennedy denied ever discussing a Star Wars movie idea with Feige. Furthermore, there hasn't been a new film in the franchise since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. In April, Lucasfilm announced the arrival of three new Star Wars films, one of which features Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey.

Meanwhile, for Feige, The Marvels premieres in theaters this Friday, November 10.

As a Gen Z fan, I grew up watching and loving both the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the Star Wars franchise. I was excited when I heard the rumors that Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, was going to be working on a Star Wars movie. I thought it would be really cool to see what he could do with the franchise. However, I was disappointed to hear that Feige has denied these rumors.

I think it's a shame that Feige won't be working on a Star Wars movie. I think he could have brought a lot of fresh ideas to the franchise. I'm also disappointed that there hasn't been a new Star Wars movie since 2019. I'm hoping that the three new films that Lucasfilm has announced will be good, but I'm not sure if they will be able to live up to the original trilogy or the MCU.
