Mark Cuban, who recently sold most of his share in the Dallas Mavericks, pleasantly surprised employees by announcing that the team would be distributing over $35 million in bonuses. According to a spokesperson, Cuban expressed his gratitude to the employees for their hard work in making the Mavs a top-notch organization. He shared in an internal memo obtained by ESPN's Tim MacMahon that each employee would receive a bonus from himself, as well as the Adelson and Dumont families.
Cuban stated, "We will be distributing around $35 million in bonuses to all of you." The memo, as reported by ESPN, mentioned that the bonus calculation was based on tenure with the Mavs and assured that the bonuses will be sent out soon. Mavericks spokesperson Alan Rakowski verified the memo's details to CNN.
The NBA revealed last week that the Board of Governors has authorized the transfer of the controlling ownership of the Dallas Mavericks from Mark Cuban to the Adelson family, including Dr. Miriam Adelson and her daughter and son-in-law, Sivan and Patrick Dumont. The transaction, reportedly valued at around $3.5 billion, was first reported by CNN in November.
The Adelson and Dumont families stated, "The Dallas Mavericks are an incredibly successful and well-known sports team on a global scale. They have secured an NBA championship, consistently attract international superstars, and are backed by a dedicated fanbase and leadership under Mark Cuban." The statement in November highlighted that Cuban will continue to play a significant role within the NBA franchise.
The statement expressed anticipation in collaborating with Mark Cuban to further enhance the team's accomplishments and impact within Dallas and beyond. Reports at the time indicated that Cuban would retain partial ownership of the Mavericks franchise and continue to oversee basketball operations.
